Worth County Author Featured in Local Media

Kandi Hughes works as a secretary for the Worth County school. She has worked there for over 20 years. When everything shut down last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Hughes tried her hand at writing books. The result was, “The Flame Manipulator.” She did it as a way to keep close with her father and other family.

The book is about a college coed, Cassie, who discovers her brother, a police detective, is missing. She and her brother’s partner race against time to unravel the the kidnapper’s identity.

Hughes plans to turn it into a three book series. The next two books in the series are, “The Flame Impersonator” and “The Flame Annihilator.” “The Flame Manipulator” was featured in the Nodaway News-Leader, where it is on sale for $10. She was also featured in the Times-Tribune.
