Courthouse News for January 20th, 2020

On January 11th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Luke Ramsey (33) of Bedford alleging DWI.

On January 11th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Ashley Adams (34) of Sheridan alleging Possession of Controlled Substance.

On January 12th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Bryan Rader (36) of Maryville alleging Statutory Rape (Felony). Bond was denied.

On January 12th, the Better Business Bureau reported that scammers are calling people regarding their $600 stimulus checks. They recommend not to respond to calls, texts, or emails. They say to resist the urge to act immediately, no matter how dramatic a caller’s story might be. Also, scammers are frequently using look-alike messages, such as the “Internal Revenue Department.” The IRS does not charge a fee for sending you your stimulus check.

On January 12th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Talia Nupp (33) of Ridgeway alleging DWI, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Prior), No Valid License, and No Seat Belt.

On January 12th, a Ravenwood woman reported that a caller purporting to be from Microsoft claimed that their computer was locked up because it had spyware, and that Grand River Mutual was not a secure site. They wanted $1,400 to buy a program to unlock it and keep hackers out. They came down to $300. Microsoft does not send unsolicited email messages or make unsolicited phone calls offering technical support. Microsoft error and warning messages never include phone numbers. Windows 10 has a built-in security app that updates automatically. Other people also reported receiving calls.

On January 13th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Levi Wedgeworth (32) of Bethany alleging DWI.

On January 13th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Zachary Sherlock (44) of Clearmont alleging Driving While Revoked.

On January 13th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Cheyanne Gordan (35) of Mound City alleging Stealing.

On January 13th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Zachary Shipers (36) of Stanberry alleging Peace Disturbance.

On January 13th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Harold Owens (45) of Albany alleging DWI (Felony).

On January 14th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Kyle Pfeifer (29) of Manhattan (KS) alleging DWI and Careless & Imprudent Driving.

On January 14th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Nicholas Mercer (32) of Albany alleging Driving While Revoked (Felony).

On January 14th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against William Teator (43) of Hudson (NY) alleging Passing a Bad Check.

On January 14th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Avery Cook (19) of Eagleville alleging Resisting Arrest (Felony), Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle, and Failure to Stop.

On the evening of January 14th, the Nodaway County Jail caught fire at around 8 pm in the men’s jail cell. Inmates were moved from the jail, and the fire was quickly extinguished. Inmates have been relocated to Andrew County and Buchanan County’s jails. The jail will be closed until further notice due to fire, smoke, and water damage. There were no injuries.

On the night of January 14th and the morning of January 15th, Taylor County Sheriff’s Deputies issued 30 citations to vehicles in Lenox alone for violating the Emergency Snow Ordinance there.

On January 15th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Francesca Walker (36) of St. Joseph in Gentry County alleging Child Endangerment (Felony), Fleeing (Felony), and No Seat Belt.

On January 15th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Preston Wilmes (49) of Winterset (IA) in Harrison County on charges of DWI, Careless & Imprudent Driving, and No Seat Belt.

On January 15th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Francesca Walker (37) of St. Joseph alleging Hindering Prosecution (Felony), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony), and Resisting Arrest.

On January 15th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Donna Lattin (53) of Skidmore alleging Unlawful Possession, Transport, Manufacture, Repair, or Sale of Illegal Weapon (Felony). 

On January 16th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Kaitlyn Spicer (21) of Houston (TX) in Harrison County on charges of Speeding (110 mph), Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Fraud (Felony). She was subsequently charged on January 17th by Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer.

On January 16th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Randall Fletchall (58) of Bethany alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana (Prior). Bond was set at $5,000, cash or corporate surety.

On January 16th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested John Follis (40) of Houston (TX) in Harrison County on three counts Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Fraud (Felony). He was subsequently charged by Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer on January 17th. Bond was set at $50,000, cash only.

On January 16th, the Chicago Police Department arrested Aditya Singh (33) on charges of Impersonation and Theft. The Chicago Tribune reported that he had allegedly stayed at Chicago O’Hare Airport from October 19th to January 16th after stealing an employee’s identification badge. He had allegedly talked other passengers into providing him with food. He had allegedly been afraid to go home to Los Angeles because of Covid.

On January 17th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jessica Green (19) of Winterset (IA) in Gentry County on charges of Minor Intoxicated While Operating Vehicle and Speeding.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
