Fourteen different people were injured, including nine people under 20 years old in two different accidents that occurred along I-35 recently.
On Thursday, seven different people were injured in a wreck that occurred on I-35 four miles north of Winston at around 4:30 pm. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2003 Ford Excursion SUV driven by Eian Wright (21) of Lenexa was southbound on I-35 when he went off the left side, overcorrected, went back across both lanes, and off the right side of the roadway, where it struck an embankment.
Injured in the wreck were Elaine Wright (45), Philip Wright (43), Eian Wright (21), Spencer Wright (19), Alex Wright (17), along with two children aged 12 and 10, all of Lenexa (KS).
The second accident occurred on Sunday at around 8:25 am on I-35 seven miles north of Pattonsburg. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2016 Volvo driven by Elkott Haysan (51) of Temple Terrace (FL) was southbound on I-35 and a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Justin Phelps (31) of Azle (TX) was stationary on the west shoulder. The Volvo struck the Dodge, which slid off the west side and overturned.
Phelps, a passenger, Dakota Torres (27), and five children, aged from 0 through 9, all of Azle (TX), were injured in the wreck. Haysan was not.
