35th Anniversary of Revival of Tiger Softball

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the revival of the Tiger softball program. Back in 1985, the Tigers had not won a game in around six years. Their goal that year was to win one game just to get some respect. They wanted to be in every game that year. There was a period during that stretch during which they did not even have uniforms. They won their first game of the year, and they came back for seconds. By the time the dust had settled, they had won four games.

Graduating from that squad were Libby Powers, Kyla Dowis (now McClain), and Kristina Kobbe. The Tigers grabbed a winning season the next year, and then went 12-2 during the 1987 season, beating Jefferson and North Andrew along the way. They grabbed their first district title in 1993, under Chuck Borey. They won their first GRC title in 1995 under Nicki Herndon. They went to state for the first time and clinched another GRC title in 2000. They took another trip to state in 2005. They won a GRC West title in 2019.
