Obituary -- James Brown 1953-2020

James Edward “Boog” Brown, age 67, Grant City, Missouri died Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, Missouri.

James was born September 10, 1953 in Parnell, Missouri, the son of Edward Dale and Verla Mae (Paxson) Brown.

He was a graduate of Grant City High School class of 1972.  James had worked for the Chicago-Northwestern and Union Pacific Railroad as a railroad machine operator before his retirement.

On January 16, 1981 he was united in marriage to Vickie Chapman at the Allendale Baptist Church in Allendale, Missouri.

“Boog” was an avid domino and card player.  He loved fishing, especially with his grandchildren and was the designated chauffeur for all their sporting events.  He was a member or the Grant City Saddle Club and the Brotherhood Maintenance of Way.

He was preceded in death by his father Dale Brown, Stepfathers Johnie McClure and Ronald Damman, brother John Brown, and sister Janie Parman.

His survivors include, his wife Vickie of the home, Grant City, one daughter Heather (Paul) Hayden, Worth, Missouri, one son Adam (Jessica) Brown, Grant City, six grandchildren, Sheila Hayden, Megan Colwell, EmiLee, Elizabeth and Wesley Brown, and Liam Hayden, two great grandchildren, Adalyn Campbell and Bodhi Colwell, mother, Verla Damman, Grant City, one sister, JoAnn (Donnie) Pollock, Mount Ayr, Iowa, one brother, Jerry McClure, Allendale, sister-in-law Debbie Brown, Des Moines, Iowa, numerous brothers and sisters’ in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home in Grant City.  Per Mr. Brown’s request his body will be cremated following the visitation with a private inurnment being held later.  Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
