Ben Boswell Hangs 30 on King City as Bluejays Break Skid

Ben Boswell hung 30 points on King City Friday night as the Northeast Nodaway Bluejays broke a losing skid in a big way, beating King City 74-24. The Bluejays fell 72-48 to Worth County; they then invaded Stanberry and played better against a team that has had their number in recent years, but fell 49-42. 

It looked like that would continue at first, as Kystin Aborn got a putback and Parker Muff converted a backdoor layup for King City to put the purple shirts up 4-0, but from there, it was all Northeast.

Dylan McIntyre cut inside to get a pass from Zach Pride, Lane Dack got loose in transition, and from there, Ben Boswell got the hot hand to will Northeast past King City.

First, Lane Dack got a tip, Zach Pride got a steal, and Ben was there for the finish. Boswell got a steal and finished at the line with two free throws, then Ben inbounded a pass to Auston Pride, who threw it back to him for a basket. Ben then got a tip and steal to put the Bluejays up 12-4. Auston Pride then scored off a drive after getting a pass from Boswell to make it 14-4.

King City was trying to backdoor Northeast, and they got one when Parker Muff converted, but then Auston Pride kicked one out to Ben for three. Following a King City turnover, Dylan McIntyre drove the left baseline and converted a reverse layup after Austin got him the ball. Muff hit a free throw, but Auston Pride’s putback and Ben Boswell’s 3-pointer off a pass from Zach Pride made it 24-7 after one.

King City scored off a chicken salad bucket after a ball scramble that bounced in the hands of the purple shirts, but then Northeast started driving at will. Boswell and Auston Pride each got to the rim twice; then, Dylan McIntyre got the hot hand with six straight points to make It 37-9, Then, Zach Pride hit Ben Boswell on the left side, Lane Dack got a steal to Colton Swalley, who fed to Ben for the finish, and then Swalley got a steal to Lane Dack, who fed Ben for another finish to make it 43-9. King City burned two timeouts during the stretch to no avail.

Northeast turned things over to its reserves for the remainder of the second quarter and King City cut it to 46-13 at the half, but the starters came back in for the third quarter. Ben Boswell got to 30 as he got a putback, scored off a Dylan McIntyre steal, and Auston Pride saved one from going out of bounds to Boswell. Dylan McIntyre added a backdoor layup, a free throw, and an inside shot, and Zach Pride added a putback as Northeast scored the first 13 points of the third quarter before the reserves took over.

The second string took over for the fourth quarter as Ben Boswell, Dylan McIntyre, and Auston Pride rested; Zach Pride had the hot hand in the period with seven points, including a 3-pointer. Brycen Kennard got on the board after Colton Swalley fed him a skip pass, and Brayden Munns showed some scrappy play and converted a three point play for the Bluejays.

Ben Boswell had 30 points, Dylan McIntyre 15, Zach Pride 11, Auston Pride 7, Brayden Munns 5, Lane Dack 4, and Brycen Kennard 2.

Auston Pride had 4 blocks.

Auston Pride and Lane Dack had 8 boards. Dylan McIntyre had 5 boards, Zach Pride 4, Brayden Munns, and Colton Swalley and Ben Boswell 1.

Northeast had 28 assists on the night; Auston Pride had 8, Lane Dack and Dylan McIntyre 5 each, Colton Swalley 4, Zach Pride 3, Ben Boswell 2, and Brayden Munns 1.

Zach Pride had 8 tips. Lane Dack had 6, Auston Pride 3, and Colton Swalley, Ben Boswell, Dylan McIntyre, and Brayden Munns 2 each.

Ben Boswell had 6 steals. Colton Swalley had 5, Lane Dack 4, Zach Pride 3, Auston Pride 2, and Brayden Munns 1.
