Courthouse News for December 9th, 2020

On November 19th, Jeremiah Searles made a motion for a Change of Venue for the Harrison County case. That motion was granted by Judge Thomas Alley. On November 23rd, in the Worth County case, Judge Robert Rice was assigned to the case, replacing Judge Joel Miller.

On December 1st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Ricky White (30) of Stanberry in Nodaway County on a Nodaway County Warrant for Failure to Appear (Speeding).

On December 3rd, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department reported that they had received a call stating there was an individual that had shot another individual and seriously injured another. Deputies responded to the area and attempted unsuccessfully to locate the incident. Subsequent investigation found that teens in the county were browsing the Internet and came across a “challenge” that told them to text a number that they were involved in a crisis. The text was forwarded to a crisis intervention line, which forwarded it to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office. The “challenge” turned out to be a prank.

On December 4th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Joshua Terrell (37) of Cameron alleging DWI (Person Under 17 in Vehicle), Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident), and two counts Failure to Secure Child in Booster Seat.

On December 4th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Glenn Roberts (51) of Ridgeway alleging Driving While Revoked (2nd or 3rd Offense) and No Seat Belt.

On December 4th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Jeremy Turner (20) of Savannah alleging Harassment (Felony).

On December 4th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Rusty Pruett (44) of Bethany alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and No Valid License. Bond was set at $10,000, cash or corporate surety.

On December 5th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Tracey Ballinger (43) of Elmo alleging three counts Domestic Assault (Felony).

On December 5th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Owen Crawford on charges of DWI and Open Container after he allegedly made entry into a residence near Diagonal. He was subsequently located in a horse pasture.

On December 5th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Brian McDonald of Humphreys (MO) in Harrison County on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and No Seat Belt. On December 6th, he was subsequently charged by Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer.

On December 5th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Floyd Jarrett (44) of Galt (MO) in Harrison County on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Speeding, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Seat Belt, and No Insurance. On December 6th, charges were subsequently filed by Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer. Bond was set at $5,000, with defendant given leave to post 10% cash. Defendant must be on house arrest except for employment, court appearances, and as otherwise authorized. 

On December 6th, a Grant City resident reported that a white van with two men in it was driving around town posing as car buyers.

On December 7th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Ibrahim Bouh (41) of Minneapolis (MN) alleging Failure to Place Vehicle Not in Motion as Near Right Hand Side of Roadway as Practicable (Accident).

On December 7th, Jeremiah Searles was bound over to Division I in Worth County on charges of Murder and Abandonment of a Corpse.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
