Late Notice – Melinda Coleman

Melinda Coleman, the mother of the late Daisy Coleman, took her own life Sunday night, KQ2 reported. SafeBAE, the group cofounded by Daisy Coleman, reported the death on its Facebook page. “The bottomless grief of losing her husband, Tristan, and Daisy, was more than she could face most days,” the SafeBAE post stated. Daisy Coleman was the person who was allegedly raped at a house party in Maryville when she was 14. There was a big uproar when Robert Rice, the Nodaway County prosecutor at the time, declined to prosecute the person she alleged committed the rape. He later pleaded guilty to lesser charges after Rice disqualified himself and another prosecutor took over the case.
