He was born on June 29, 1936 in Washington Center, Missouri the son of Vernis Clive and Lois (Shain) Westlake.
Richard worked numerous years in California for Terminix Pest Control. Richard and Phyllis were united in marriage on October 12, 1991 in Newark, California. In 1998, Richard and Phyllis returned to Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernis Clive and Lois Westlake; sister, Collen Kidwell; brother-in-law, Carroll Kidwell and step-son, Russell Dierenfeldt.
Richard is survived by his wife, Phyllis of the home; son, Richard Lee “Rick” Westlake, JR. and wife, Carrie, Sacramento, CA; daughter, Cindy Westlake, Ft. Collins, CO; step-son, Gene Dierenfeldt and wife, Shanda, Bethany, MO; step-daughter-in-law, Shelley Dierenfeldt, Roy, UT; step-son, Rick Dierenfeldt and wife, Jane, Grant City, MO; nephews, Doug, Brad, and Ronnie Kidwell; niece, Gwen Schildnecht; two granddaughters, Cindy and Nikki and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the First Baptist Church, Bethany, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
