Obituary -- Galen Sanders 1952-2020

Funeral Services for Galen Sanders, age 67, who passed away January 3, 2020 were held Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11 AM at Cummings Family Funeral Home. Visitation was held Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Interment was held at Platteville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family to be established. Cummings Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Sanders. Galen Gene Sanders was born February 20, 1952 in Redding, IA to William L. and Deloris (Matheny) Sanders. Galen attended school in Quitman and Maryville, MO. Galen had 5 children Jason Lynn, Shannon Gene, Waylon Lee, Nichalos Gene, and Annie Jean.

Throughout Galen’s life he worked as a carpenter, a laborer for the secondary road crew for Nodaway and Taylor counties, a mechanic, and various other jobs throughout the community. He enjoyed working outside, riding around town, and spending time with family and friends.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents, William and Deloris Sanders. Left to cherish his memories is his children Jason (Erin) Sanders of Clarinda, IA, Shannon (Tracy) Ebrecht, Nick (Rebecca) Ebrecht of Bedford, IA, Waylon (Lisa) Sanders of Maryville, MO, and Annie (Dustin) Carpenter of Tarkio, MO. 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Sisters Rita (Steve) Richard of Denison, TX, Linda Scott of Bolckow, MO and Marilyn (Ron) Scholtz of Kingston, OK. Brothers Marvin (Linda) Sanders, Wayland (Shirley) Sanders of Quitman, MO and Richard (Tammie) Sanders of Skidmore, MO; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
