Courthouse News for January 8th, 2020

On December 27th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Levi Streebin (38) of Maryville alleging Passing a Bad Check (Felony).
On December 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Derrick Schremser (40) of Maryville alleging No Valid License (2nd).
On December 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Clayton Calvert (20) of Maryville alleging DWI.
On December 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Lora Cox (62) of Hopkins alleging Failure to Register and No Valid License.
On December 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Leonel Garcia-Gonzales (19) of Nashville (TN) alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident), DWI, No Valid License, and Failure to Turn On Headlights when Wipers Running.
On December 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Mario Munoz (25) of Moline (IL) alleging No Valid License.
On December 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Levander Mayo (44) of Independence alleging No Insurance.
On December 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Shannen Thompson (27) of Cainsville alleging No Insurance.
On December 31st, a GMC Pickup driven by Donna Pedersen collided with a Volkswagen car driven by Stephanie Remmenga. Pedersen was stopped at Monroe & Lincoln Street in Mount Ayr and pulled into the intersection, striking Remmenga. Nobody was injured.
On January 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Laren Thrailkill (54) of Eagleville alleging Burglary (Felony). Bond was denied.
On January 1st, a Council Bluffs Police Department officer pulled over a 2016 Yellow Penske Truck for Speeding at around 1:05 pm on Interstate 80. A service dog was deployed and 61 cardboard boxes were uncovered containing 1,500 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $4.5 million. Dmitry Borisov (35) of Los Angeles (CA) was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver, Drug Tax Stamp Violation, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $32,000.
Jacob Thomsen, 29, of New Market, was arrested in the 900 block of Main street in New Market on January 1, 2020. Thomsen had a valid warrant for failure to appear before the courts. He is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $5,000 cash or surety pending and appearance before the Magistrate.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Department tweeted this about an officer-involved shooting on January 2nd:  “We’re investigating an Officer Involved Shooting in the 19800 block of NE 172nd near Holt. The deceased, a 28 year old male, was the suspect in an Armed Robbery in Liberty, and a shooting in Independence, both earlier today.”

On January 2nd, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Jacob Grim (31) of Stanberry alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana.
On January 2nd, KQ2 reported that Shakeel Khan (42) of St. Joseph was sentenced to three  years without parole for his role in a conspiracy to distribute $6 million worth of synthetic cannabinoid products. He was also ordered to forfeit $2,005,239 to the government that was seized during the investigation and to pay a money judgement of $4,750,000, which accounts for all K2-related deposits associated with his bank accounts.
On January 2nd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Justus Voss (18) of Maryville in Nodaway County on charges of Failure to Register and Minor in Possession.
On January 4th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jordan Perkins (21) of St. Joseph in Andrew County on charges of Statutory Rape (Felony) and Statutory Sodomy (Felony).
On January 6th, KQ2 reported that Dylan James Grippando (20) was sentenced in Buchanan County to 15 years for 2nd Degree Murder for the death of Jaiden Drimmel. The shooting had allegedly been over a $50 drug debt.
On January 6th, police are investigating an incident in Edinboro (PA) in which someone released bedbugs in the local Wal-Mart, according to CNN.
On January 6th, Christopher Wiederholt (59) of Conception Junction was sentenced to 5 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Controlled Substance.
On January 6th, Mason Stiff (20) of Maryville was sentenced to 5 years in the Department of Corrections for violating the terms of his probation.
On January 7th, KQ2 reported that two children were removed from a home in Livingston County for neglect following a citizen’s complaint. Conditions included odor of human feces, odor of urine, rotting food, and no running water. There was an elderly resident there as well. Someone had allegedly dropped them off New Year’s Eve and left them to go party.
Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
