Joan Elizabeth (Linaberry) Brackin, age 74, Springfield, formerly of Grant City, Missouri, died Monday, January 6, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Joan was born on May 2nd, 1945 in Suffern, New York to Kenneth & Elizabeth Linaberry.
She married Benjamin Brackin before he was deployed to Viet Nam. They were married for 38 years before he passed in 2004.
They had 4 children: Elishia Carrillo (Steven) of St. Joseph, MO Heather Gerdes (Mitchell) of Lenexa, KS, Katie Roetemeyer (Zachary) of Springfield, MO and Christopher Brackin (Katie) of Springfield, MO; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren: Alexander Carrillo (Chelsea) Landyn, Meah and twins on the way, Maximillian Carrillo (Danielle) Joseph, Samuel Carrillo, Nichole Gerdes, Gabrielle Gerdes, Oscar Gerdes, Duncan Roetemeyer, Linken Roetemeyer, Corwin Roetemeyer, Benjamin Brackin, and Darius Brackin.
Joan was one of 3 children, she was proceeded in death by her brother, John Linaberry. She is survived by her dear sister Ann Levine (Joel) and family of Laguna Hills, CA.
Joan taught for 30+ years and was passionate about reading. She was a proud member of the Winthrop society. Ever the teacher, she spent many summers hosting all of the grandchildren for a week of learning and fun at Grandma Camp.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to her niece's school, Earthroots Field School. Through hands-on integrated curriculum, Earthroots deepens student’s connections with the natural world, getting more children outdoors to experience a classroom without walls. Striving towards regenerating beneficial relationships between the earth, animals, plants and human communities.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the Koger Cemetery, near Denver, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home, Grant City, Missouri.
