Panthers Clinch GRC Title After 90-64 Win

Pattonsburg clinched the GRC Title Friday after a wild 90-64 win over Albany, which had improved greatly since their 82-42 Worth County loss.

The game started out as a shootout, with the teams battling to a 34-34 tie before Pattonsburg pulled away to a 68-48 halftime lead. But instead of collapsing like they did against Worth County, Albany fought back, played shutdown defense in the third quarter, and made a game of it, coming to within 68-64 after three. But then Pattonsburg found their second win and scored 22 points in the final quarter to get the win.

Steven Willhite was 35 for 59 for 475 yards, 10 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He rushed four times for 15 yards, and Patrick Cowley rushed five times for 48 yards and three scores.
Cowley had 13 catches for 192 yards. Dakota Eaton had 11 catches for 180 yards, while Brett Emig had 10 catches for 107 yards.

Defensively, Kaden Koch had a monster night, getting 21 tackles. Patrick Cowley had a career night with 17 tackles, Brett Emig 12, Clark Adler 10, Dakota Eaton 9, Kason Mathes 8, Login Goll 5, Collin Briggs 4, and Brandon Hamilton 1. Koch added two sacks, while Brett Emig and Patrick Cowley had one pick each. Koch also had two fumble recoveries, while Goll had one.

Pattonsburg is idle this week, and will face either Stanberry or King City next week for districts.
