Obituary -- Harold Norris 1941-2019

Harold Dean Norris of Chariton, Iowa passed away at the Circle of Life Hospice and Legacy Lodge in Chariton, Iowa on October 11, 2019. He was 78. Harold was the only child of Dolan and Mildred (Brown) Norris and was born on June 21, 1941 in Blockton, Iowa. He graduated from Blockton High School in 1959 in a class of ten (5 boys and 5 girls). His class was the last graduating class from Blockton High School. 

On June 20, 1965 in Blockton, Iowa he married Jackie (Schoenmann)  at the Blockton Christian Church.  The young couple started their journey together in Blockton where Harold worked for the Chicago Great Western Railroad. To this union two children were born, Kevin Dean Norris and Karla Maurine (Norris) Wiederholt. In 1985 they moved to Chariton, Iowa where he continued to work for the Northwestern Railroad which later became Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement after 35 years of service.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  In his spare time he love to go camping, shooting black powder muzzle loaders, arrowhead hunting, attending the Knoxville sprint car races, listening to old country and western music, annual trips to Midwest Old Threshers Reunion for over 30 years, spending time with his pets, collecting railroad memorabilia,  antiquing plus checking out car shows. 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents Dolan and Mildred, in-laws John L. Schoenmann and Betty Schoenmann-Baxter.  Harold leaves behind his wife of 54 years Jackie, son Kevin and (Jenny), daughter Karla and (Kent), _9_ grandchildren, _14_ great grandchildren, _ 4_ great, great grandchildren, brother-in-law Lynn and (Peggy) Schoenmann, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation was on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 3-5:00 p.m. at Fielding Funeral Homes with services on Monday October 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. and burial at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton, Iowa. A luncheon followed at the Blockton Community Center following the burial. Online condolences can be made at www.fieldingfuneralhome.com.
