Obituary -- Garland Roach 1919-2019

Garland Roach, 99 of Grant City, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at his home. Garland was born on December 16, 1919 near Allendale, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Elva Roach, brothers: Cleo, Lloyd, Elmer, Delmer and Teddy Roach, sisters: June Miller and Elsie Owens. He is survived by one brother, Glee Roach.

Garland was united in marriage to Mary (Jones) Roach on November 14, 1945, spending over 73 years together. She survives of the home. He is also survived by sons: Alan (Donna) and Daniel (Debbie) Roach, grandchildren: Justin (Janette), Jonathan, Nicholas (Keeley)and Kristin Roach, and Darcie (Jason) Searles, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Garland joined the U.S. Navy in March 1942, serving on a submarine tender ship in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon discharge in 1945 and after getting married he returned to the farm Northeast of Allendale, Missouri to farm and work on construction. After retirement he and Mary relocated to Grant City in 1982 and resided there until his passing. He was a member of the Allendale Baptist Church and Grant City V.F.W. Post #3123.

Funeral visitation and services were 11:00 A.M.  Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Burial was in Kirk Cemetery, Allendale, Missouri.
