Courthouse News for January 23rd

On January 15th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Whitney Wooden (18) of Gilman City alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On January 15th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Michelle Harbison (22) of Tulsa (OK) alleging DWI and Speeding 26+ Over the Limit.

On January 15th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Denise Wilgus (35) of Gilman City alleging DWI, Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway, and No Plates.

On January 15th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Chas Sherman (33) of Grand Prairie (TX) alleging Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speeding, and No Valid License.

On January 15th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Mason Johnson (22) of Bemidji (MN) alleging Possession of Marijuana and Speeding 26+ Over the Limit.

On January 15th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Frank Saitz III (28) of Ankeny (IA) alleging Possession of Marijuana and Speeding.

On January 15th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Vicente Rivera (45) of Cicero (IL) alleging Operating as an Interstate Motor Fuel User Without Being Licensed as Such.

On January 15th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against William Elliott (63) of Maryville alleging two counts No Valid License.

On the night of Tuesday, January 15, 2019, members of the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office, the Tarkio Police, and the Buchanan County Drug Strike force conducted a surveillance operation that ended in Wilcox with the successful apprehension of Brandon Ray Joyner. Joyner was the subject of a narcotic investigation in Atchison County and he was known to frequent an apartment in Wilcox. Investigators had credible information that Joyner, a convicted felon, carried a black semi-auto handgun. During the arrest Joyner was found to be in possession of an air pistol that appeared to be a real firearm at first glance. Joyner has been charged in Atchison County with Distribution of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in a protected location. His bond is $250,000.00.

Additionally he was charged in Nodaway County with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). An additional $30,000 bond was set in Nodaway County, with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.

On January 16th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Gregory Carson (21) of Grant City alleging Furnishing Pornographic Material to a Minor and two counts Failure to Register as Sex Offender (Felony).

On January 16th, Tim Newton of Lamoni, IA was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear on a Driving While Barred charge by the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department. Newton was booked into the Ringgold County Jail.

On January 16th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office and the Ringgold County Medical Examiner investigated the unattended death of Austin Jay Bowen (39) of Benton. Upon arrival, he was deceased. An autopsy will be performed. No foul play is suspected. Anyone with information, please contact the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 17th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Josh Minnick (39) of Grant City in Worth County on charges of Driving While Revoked, Vision Reducing Material on Vehicle, and Failure to Comply with Ignition Interlock Requirement.

On January 17th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Amanda Fredricks (39) of Eagleville alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Felony). Bond was set at $10,000, with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.
On January 17th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Collins Straight (38) of Worth alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $10,000 with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.

On January 18th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Douglas Long (63) of Bethany alleging Stealing ($750 or more, Felony).

Josh Standerford, 27, of Bedford was arrested on January 18, 2019 in the 300 block of 4th Street in New Market, Iowa by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with violating a no-contact order and is being held at the Taylor County Jail on no bond pending an appearance before a magistrate.

On Monday, January 21st, roads in and around Maryville and Nodaway County were drifting closed faster than crews could keep up with. The schools at North Nodaway and Northeast Nodaway were closed. PLEASE use caution when traveling in snow, and if you must get out use good judgement when crossing snow covered roads. The low temperatures and high winds could be deadly if you are caught out in the elements. As always, call 911 for emergencies.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
