Two were killed in a teen wreck west of Savannah Wednesday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 1999 Dodge Dakota Pickup driven by Kendell Delp (18) of Amazonia was westbound on US 59 three miles of Savannah and a 1997 Dodge Dakota Pickup driven by Landon Smith (18) of Amazonia was eastbound. The Delp vehicle crossed the centerline and went off the left side of the road. The Smith vehicle went off the right side of the road in an attempt to avoid the Delp vehicle. The front of the Delp vehicle struck the front of the Smith vehicle head-on. Both vehicles came to rest off the south side of the roadway at the area of impact.
A third passenger, Cole Smith (12) of Amazonia, received serious injuries and was transported to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph and was lifeflighted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. All were wearing seat belts at the time of impact.
