Cade Allee was honored before the game for scoring 1,000 career points and the Tiger boys recovered from their loss to North Andrew to make quick work of Albany 59-27 Thursday. Allee has started all four years and finally reached the milestone against Princeton this year.
Against North Andrew, Worth County put hardly any defensive pressure, but against Albany, they did much better, getting 16 tips and 16 steals against the Warriors. It also helped that they took good care of the ball, only surrendering it six times. They jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead as Caleb Parman hit Drake Kinsella inside, Ryan McClellan got a drive and hit a floater, Cade Allee went backdoor and got a pass from Kinsella after Ryan McClellan got a steal, Allee scored off a Kinsella steal after Allee got a tip, Ryan scored off a steal after Drake got a tip, and Ryan McClellan hit Drake Kinsella in transition after Mason the Hawk got a quick outlet.
Albany coach Curtis Cox was beside himself, burning three timeouts in the first quarter trying to stop the bleeding. But the lead drew to 19-3 after one as Mason cleaned up after a McClellan steal, Ryan McClellan hit Tevin Cameron for an NBA 3-pointer, and Jacob New worked a successful high-low to Drake Kinsella.
The Warriors tried to make a stand in the second, but Cade Allee had 8 points and Ryan McClellan 7 as Worth County’s lead grew to over 20. Cade Allee hit Ryan McClellan for a drive down the left baseline, McClellan got two free throws, and put up a floater. Then, Allee got a drive and pullup and added a triple, Mason Hawk hit a cutting McClellan for a layup, and McClellan hit Allee in transition for a 3-pointer as Worth County led 34-12 at the break.
Lane Watson got a drive to start off Albany, but then Drake Kinsella got a steal for a layup and then Mason Hawk got a block and a steal, threw it to Caleb Parman, who threw it to Kinsella for a fast break. Ryan McClellan added a putback, and Drake Kinsella worked a perfect give and go with Caleb Parman to make it 42-14 with 4:05 left.
Jaxon Anderson hit Tevin Cameron for a 3-pointer and Jacob New hit Cade Allee for a 3-point play as Worth County crossed the 30-point threshold and went up 48-15.
Bryant McCord scored after Jacob New aired one out, McCord added a drive, Bryant hit Caleb Parman for a backdoor look that resulted in two free throws, and Jaxon Anderson scored from inside and added a pair of free throws in the fourth quarter as Albany never got closer than 28.
Cade Allee had 16 points to lead the Tigers. Ryan McClellan had 13, Drake Kinsella 10, Tevin Cameron 6, Caleb Parman, Bryant McCord, and Jaxon Anderson all had 4, and Mason Hawk had 2.
Worth County had 8 blocks for the game as Albany kept trying to take it in on them to no avail. Mason the Hawk had 4, Jaxon Anderson 2, Cade Allee had 1, and Bryant McCord had 1.
Ten different Tigers got boards. Mason Hawk had 7, Cade Allee 5, Drake Kinsella and Bryant McCord 3 each, Ryan McClellan, Tevin Cameron, and Jaxon Anderson 2, and Caleb Parman, Jacob New, and Ethan Thomas had 1.
Ryan McClellan and Jacob New had 4 assists each. Caleb Parman and Drake Kinsella had 3, Bryant McCord had 2, and Mason Hawk, Cade Allee, Jaxon Anderson, and Tevin Cameron had 1 each.
Mason Hawk and Caleb Parman had 3 tips each. Drake Kinsella, Ryan McClellan, Cade Allee, and Jacob New had 2 each. Jaxon Anderson and Bryant McCord had 1 each.
Mason Hawk had 6 steals to lead the Tigers. Ryan McClellan had 4, Drake Kinsella and Tevin Cameron had 2 each, and Jaxon Anderson and Jacob New had 1 each.
