Spencer Weir posted a career high with 31 points and Northeast Nodaway beat West Nodaway Friday 81-73 in a barnburner. Northeast outscored West Nodaway in three of the four quarters, but the Rockets were able to hang around until the end.
Weir scored more in junior high, when he scored 35 in an overtime game during his 8th grade year against King City, when Northeast won the King City Tournament over the Wildkats. But Friday was his best night in varsity action.
Also scoring for Northeast were Dylan Mildfeldt with 17, Cameron Staples with 12, Dylan Vore and Brayden Welch with 6, Eli Scroggie with 5, and Ethan Adwell and Reed McIntyre with 2 each.
For West Nodaway, Tyler Blay had 18, Brody Beason 16, Dylan Carden 14, and Korbin Koch 11. West Nodaway had 9 three-pointers for the game, while Northeast Nodaway had 8.
