Three Hit Double Figures as Tiger Girls Beat Albany 52-33; Win Streak Reaches Three

Faced with playing Albany back to back, Worth County’s girls overcame 24 turnovers to beat the Warriors again as three Tigers reached double figures. Albany came in playing much better, putting more pressure on the ball and speeding Worth County up. They forced four Tiger turnovers in the first two minutes and jumped out to a 6-3 lead early.

But then Worth County found their footing as Kristin New hit Kaylee McElvain inside and Regan Allee hit two free throws to make it 7-6. Regan Allee got a steal and fed Kristin New and New added a free throw to make it 10-6.

A pair of lapses on defense allowed Albany to cut it to 12, but Kristin New’s backdoor pass to Anna Gladstone made it 38-23. But then the alley oop play to Newman was good for a layup and then Albany got the ball back and lined up as though to set up for a last shot. But Newman hit an NBA 3-pointer instead to make it 38-28.

But then Worth County’s conditioning kicked in and they took much better care of the ball in the fourth quarter. Jessi Badell hit a free throw, Anna Gladstone scored off a drive, Kaylee McElvain got loose on the baseline after another Gladstone drive, and Regan Allee’s drive sprung Badell open to make it 45-28.
