Julie Capps to Retire from Worth County
Music teacher Julie Capps announced Friday on her Facebook page that she will be retiring from Worth County at the end of the school year. She ran all aspects of Worth County's music program. She organized several music programs that were well-attended, including one based on "The Nutcracker" last December. Another program she put on was based on the well-loved children's nursery rhyme, "The Bermen Town Musicians." Under her direction, the band and concert choir received numerous I ratings and awards. She organized several different music clubs for students to advance their skills. For the band, Ms. Capps helped bring back the old school fight song "Faithful and True-Hearted." That song had not been heard at Worth County for over 30 years since Mr. Kenneth Thompson had retired from the school after 1983. It was played by the band once again during the Homecoming Parade in 2015 and has become a staple at halftime performances during football games again. It has also been played during basketball games as well.
