Jack Hawk 1936-2025

     Jackie Dean Hawk was born August 18, 1936, to Lazarus and Hazel (Hennegin) Hawk at their home in rural Sheridan, Missouri.  He passed away November 22, 2025 at the age of 89 surrounded by his family.

     Jack graduated from Sheridan High School in 1954. In high school he enjoyed participating in softball, basketball, track and FFA. He “attempted” college at the University of Missouri but that was not what he wanted. He chose to come home to farm with his brother Don and father Laz. Jack was a modern farmer with traditional values that welcomed meeting new people and enjoyed good conversation. 

      Jack married Dorrilla Grace on August 22, 1959 in Albany, Missouri. To this union 6 children were born. Jack had a great singing voice, and they both enjoyed dancing.  They celebrated 66 years of marriage last August.  He was a member of and baptized into the Sheridan Christian Church.  

     He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Don, sister Louise (Jim) Ross, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marcia and Bob Hickman and brother-in-law F.C Grace Jr., and a good friend Bill Libel who he met during his 6 years in the Air National Guard.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife Dorrilla, children: Gina (Craig) McNeese, Bart (Karla) Hawk, Troy (Abby) Hawk, Jason (Joni) Hawk, Lori (Gene) Groom and Brandon (Amber) Hawk; sisters: Bonnie (Jewell) Taylor and Ann (Don) Bergman; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Karen Grace as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

     Funeral Services were 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25th at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Visitation was from 2:00 p.m. to service time. Burial was in the Sheridan Cemetery, Vanskyock Addition, Sheridan, Missouri.  Memorials may be made to the Sheridan Cemetery.
