Cole Hardy Has Big First Quarter to Fuel Tigers Over Bluejays

Cole Hardy had a big first quarter to fuel the undefeated Tiger boys over Northeast Nodaway Thursday night 45-18. Cole started off the scoring with a drive after getting a pass from Weston Hill. Max Hiatt got his own rebound, dribbled out to the corner, and knocked down a 3-pointer. Hudson Cameron converted a steal into a three-point play, and then Cole added a pullup. Hudson Cameron hit a free throw, and then Jarrett Gilland hit Cole Hardy cutting inside. Mad Max aired one out to Hudson Cameron for a fast break. Max Hiatt got a tip and Cole Hardy got a steal and finished before consecutive putbacks by Weston Hill capped the run at 21-0 at the 57 second mark of the first quarter. Hardy had eight points in the period to lead the Tigers.

Gracin Runde finally drove and scored after Jaxen Taylor kept a possession alive with an offensive board for the Bluejays, but Worth County continued to pull away in the second quarter. Hudson Cameron and Jarrett Gilland scored off steals, Gunnar Smith got a putback, Hudson Cameron scored off a pullup after Jace Mullock kept a possession alive with an offensive board, Cole Hardy got a steal, and then Cole Hardy got another steal and fed Hudson Cameron at the halftime buzzer to make it 33-7.

Worth County forced 29 turnovers for the night to fuel their run, while only turning it over seven times.

Northeast Nodaway played much harder in the second half, playing evenly with the Tigers, although they never got it under 23 points. Brock Adwell, hampered by foul trouble in the first half, scored seven points, including a 3-pointer, in the fourth quarter. Worth County used balanced scoring to keep the Bluejays from making things interesting. 

Hudson Cameron had 14 points for the Tigers. Cole Hardy had 12, Weston Hill 6, Max Hiatt 5, Gunnar Smith 4, and Jarrett Gilland and Silas Brown 2.

Weston Hill had two blocks. Hudson Cameron and Gunnar Smith had 1.

Weston Hill had 7 rebounds. Max Hiatt had 5, Jarrett Gilland 3, Gunnar Smith 2, and Hudson Cameron, Cole Hardy, Jace Mullock, Payton Stephenson, and Emmett Frisch with 1 each.

Jace Mullock, Max Hiatt, and Cole Hardy had 2 assists each. Jarrett Gilland and Weston Hill had 1 each.

Hudson Cameron had 9 tips. Cole Hardy had 6, Max Hiatt 5, Weston Hill and Jace Mullock 2, and Jarrett Gilland and Gunnar Smith 2.

Hudson Cameron had 8 steals. Cole Hardy had 6, Jarrett Gilland and Max Hiatt 3, Gunnar Smith 2, and Silas Brown, Weston Hill, and Jace Mullock 1 each.

For Northeast Nodaway, Brock Adwell had 7, Camden Allen 6, and Gracin Runde 5.

The "B" game had a totally different outcome as the Bluejays won 8-0 in one quarter. Bentley Hicks and Noah Cordell had three-pointers, and Hayzer Florea scored off an inside shot.

For Worth County, Zaiden Chipps and Emmett Frisch had 1 block.

Mason Hern had 3 boards. Desmond Dannar had 2, and Emmett Frisch, Coy Pickering, Lane Pickering, and Jarrett Rush had 1 each.

Luca Sagel had 1 tip.

For the Bluejays, Jaxen Taylor had 1 block.
