Tiger Boys Second in Early Bird Track Meet

Worth County’s track team, rebuilding from last year, started off with a second place finish at the Early Bird. Mound City ran away with the meet with 147 points. Worth County had 88, Pattonsburg 63, Stanberry 60, East Atchison 50, NEN 41, Bedford 35, King City 21, Albany 19, Union Star 17, East Union 16, South Harrison 15, North Andrew 14, and Mercer 2.

Bryant McCord won a tight race in the 100 in which the top four were separated by one tenth of a second. McCord got a winning time of 11.95, ahead of Dylan George (Mound City) with 11.96. Noah Young (Mound City) was third with 12.02, and Andrew Alarcon was fourth with a time of 12.05.
McCord beat out Trevor Ireland (Pattonsburg) in the 110 Hurdles in a two way race. McCord won with a time of 16.22 to Ireland’s 16.37. Aydan Gladstone was fifth with a time of 18.81. McCord was third in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 45.57. Gladstone was sixth with a time of 46.90.

The 4x100 Relay Team of Andrew Alarcon, Alex Rinehart, Caleb Parman, and Bryant McCord was second with a time of 47.13 behind Mound City, who had 46.71. The 4x200 team of Andrew Alarcon, Caleb Parman, Alex Rinehart, and Aydan Gladstone was fourth with a time of 1:41.99. The 4x400 team of Andrew Alarcon, Aydan Gladstone, Jacob New, and Nate Adwell was third with a tie of 3:53.15. All four relay teams got medals as the 4x800 team of Josh Freed, Alex Rinehart, Jacob New, and Jackson Runde was fourth with a time of 10:34.88.

Nate Adwell was second in the Pole Vault with a height of 12 feet, behind only Gage McAdams (East Atchison), who had a height of 14 feet. Aydan Gladstone was sixth with a height of 10 feet. Caleb Parman was fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 17’10½”.

In the throwing events, Worth County placed well as Caleb Parman won the Shot Put with a throw of 38’6” and Isaac Alarcon was sixth with a throw of 35’5”. Jackson Runde was sixth in the Discus with a throw of 103’8”. Jacob New won the Javelin handily, as he won with a throw of 141’8”, over 24 feet better than his nearest rival.
