Courthouse News for March 27th, 2019

On March 17th at around 5 pm, the Life Flight Helicopter flew over Sheridan, headed southwest.
On March 18th, an ambulance went from Hopkins to Maryville with its lights flashing shortly after 5 pm.

On March 18th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Landon Mings (32) of Maryville alleging DWI (Prior) and No Plates.

On March 18th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Matthew Nichols (26) of St. Joseph alleging No Valid License and Speeding.

On March 18th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Ronnae Gordon (19) of Billings (MO) alleging Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On March 18th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Brendon Roberts (25) of Maryville alleging Driving While Revoked and Speeding.

On March 18th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jacob Jones (25) of Bedford alleging No Valid License and Failure to Register.

On March 18th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against David Lewis (48) of Ravenwood alleging Harassment.

Released by Assistant Chief Jonathan Mullock, Lamoni PD – On Monday morning, March 18th 2019, Lamoni Police Department with the assistance of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Leon Police Department and Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, served a search warrant at the residence of 1031 W. South Street in Lamoni, IA. The search warrant pertained to the possession and sales of illegal drugs. During the search, several items such as methamphetamine, marijuana and drug related paraphernalia were located within the residence. 61 year old James Dean Nash and 50 year old Dawn Rogene Easton, both of Lamoni, were arrested without incident and were transported to the Decatur County Jail. James Dean Nash was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to deliver (class c felony), Possession of Marijuana 3rd or Subsequent (aggravated misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). James Nash’s bond set at $10,000. Dawn Rogene Easton was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). Dawn Easton plead guilty for her charge and was released on a later date.

On Monday, March 18th, the Citizens Bank & Trust in St. Joseph, MO was robbed. Bank security camera images captured the face of the suspect and he was identified. On Tuesday morning a St. Joseph Detective and a Buchanan County Sheriff’s Captain, came to Maryville to follow leads with Maryville Police, after it was determined that the suspect had been in Maryville. It was also learned that the suspect had been living in Maitland, MO in Holt County. I contacted the Holt County Sheriff who gave a mutual aid request allowing us to help his office as he was dealing with flooding. Captain Wedlock, Detective Cochenour, and I assisted the St. Joseph authorities by conducting two residential searches in Maitland, MO to look for the suspect. We were assisted by the Highway Patrol. During interviews it was confirmed that the suspect had been in Maitland on Sunday, the day before the robbery but he had not been back since. On Thursday, the suspect, Nicholas Lehman, age 38, was taken into custody on I-29 outside of Kansas City. He was arrested on a Buchanan County warrant related to this robbery. He is also a suspect in another bank robbery. His criminal history shows convictions for Armed Criminal Action, Forgery, and Robbery 1st Degree – Sheriff Randy Strong.
On March 19th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against William Grace (66) of Clearmont alleging No Valid License (3rd & Subsequent Offense, Felony) and DWI (Persistent, Felony). Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety with defendant given leave to post 10% cash and subject to special conditions.

On March 19th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Israel Ballesteros (25) of Kansas City on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While Suspended.

On March 19th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Jason Brown (37) of Pella (IA) alleging Defective Equipment. He pleaded guilty and was fined $127.50 plus court costs by Judge Joel Miller.

On March 20, 2019 Anthony Rotert of Mount Ayr, IA was caught stealing money from his employer, Mount Ayr Community School and arrested, according to the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department. Rotert was arrested and booked into the Ringgold County Jail for theft in the 5th degree. Rotert was released on bail.

On March 20th, two Highway Patrol cars came through Ravenwood and Parnell with their sirens flashing and met up with Sheriff Terry Sheddrick and Deputy Scott Sherer in front of the Sheridan Post Office that afternoon. They were speaking to a woman with out of state license plates.

Over the last few months, scammers have been driving through the area dropping off scam envelopes. The return address was not local, and the destination address was not always local. The US Postal Service is investigating. Please turn over any fraudulent mail you get to the postmaster. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

On March 20th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Makenzie Cobb (25) of Maryville alleging Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Possessing a Weapon & Felony Controlled Substance, Felony) and Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony). She was being held on no bond until seen by a magistrate.

On March 20th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Nolan Andrade (25) of Council Bluffs (IA) alleging Harassment.

On March 21st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Dai’Shaun Perry (19) of Maryville alleging Possession of Marijuana.

On March 21st, there was a wreck at Main Street and Edwards in Maryville shortly before 12 noon. There were two cop cars present, and Edwards Street was blocked off.

On March 21st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Kelsi Ransom (21) of Maryville alleging Possession of Marijuana.

On March 22nd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Robert Tracy (18) of Maryville alleging two counts of Domestic Assault.

On March 22nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Dalton Bloss (26) of Bethany alleging Passing a Bad Check.

On March 22nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Caleb Michael Meyer (25) of Springfield (IL) alleging Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Valid License.

On March 22nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Dave Cusey (49) of Normal (IL) alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On March 22nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Deark Bailey (30) of Pierre (SD) alleging No Valid License (2nd Offense).

On March 22nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Jason Taggart (36) of Gilman City alleging No Insurance.

On March 22nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Beth Nible (35) of Bethany alleging No Insurance.

On March 22nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Eric Cadogan (39) of Evergreen Park (IL) alleging No Insurance.

On March 24th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested James Irby (26) of Pittsburgh (PA) in Gentry County on a charge of DWI.

On March 25th, Special Prosecutor Andrea Gibson filed charges against Brady Harville (35) of Bethany in Harrison County alleging 2 counts Burglary, 2 counts Stealing, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Stealing Livestock or Wildlife (all Felonies). Bond was set at $10,000, cash only.

On March 25th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Jeremy Schaapveld (49) of Foley (MN) alleging Operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle While Disqualified.
On March 25th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Adam Ramer (20) of Darlington alleging Domestic Assault.

On March 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Morgan Wallace (20) of Maryville alleging Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On March 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Tucker Scott (23) of Maryville alleging Possession of Marijuana.
