Don was born February 19, 1932 in Worth County, Missouri. He was the son of the late Paul Edward and Sybil (Carroll) Morin.
Don joined the United States Army in July 1949 at the age of 17. He was stationed in Korea from 1949 to 1951 with the 73rd Tank Battalion as a truck driver hauling gasoline. Don was one of the survivors of the Chosin Reservoir Massacre. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1952. Don was instrumental in organizing the HQ Company 73rd Tank Battalion Reunion.
On June 8, 1952, Don was married to Beverly Roach, at the Allendale Baptist Church.
Don served on various boards but was never a member of any of the organizations, preferring to be behind the scenes. He was treasurer for the Steel Workers Union at Vendo for several years. He also served on the Kirk Cemetery board. Don was a member, however of the VFW Post #3123 and the Allendale Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, Paul, Tom, Ronnie and Billy Morin, two sisters, Jean Tandy and Bessie Pickering, one son, Doug Morin, one grandson, Matthew Caddenhead, one granddaughter, Cobi Ann Morin, and one great granddaughter, Jillian Owens.
His survivors include: his wife of nearly 67 years, Bev and great granddaughter Zoey Morin of the home, Allendale, one daughter, Jacobi (Ed) Matney, Independence, MO, two sons, Don Jr. (Ayvonne) and Chuck (Debbie) Morin, both of Grant City, Missouri, daughter-in-law Debbie Morin, Kansas City, Missouri, two sisters, Berta (Kenneth) Quick, Redding, Iowa, Helen Kingdon, Lawndale, California, two brothers, James (Chon) Morin, Puyallup, Washington, Charles (Bonnie) Morin, Chillicothe, Missouri, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Eulinger, Independence, Missouri, two granddaughters, Doni (Mike) Webb, Bethany, Missouri, Brittany Morin, Grant City, Missouri, five grandsons, Sam Conn, St. Joseph, Missouri, Charlie Morin, Maryville, Missouri, Jed Morin, Grant City, Missouri, Eddie Matney, Independence, Missouri, Will Morin, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life for Don will be held at 11 AM, Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home, Grant City. The family will receive friends from 10-11 prior to the services.
Inurnment with full military honors will follow in the Kirk Cemetery, Allendale, Missouri.
