Worth County 4-H Gearing Up for New Year

The Worth County 4-H program is gearing up for a new year.  The county's annual recognition night will be held on Sunday, September 30 at 4 p.m. at the skating rink in Grant City.  Members will be honored for their achievements over the past 4-H year.  Anyone wishing to join 4-H for the upcoming year is welcome to attend.

4-H is a community of young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H is young people making new friends and memories while preparing to be leaders of today and tomorrow. It is a volunteer-led organization that reaches boys and girls through small groups called clubs and through classrooms, in some cases. 4-H members choose from over 40 projects in which to participate during the 4-H calendar year. Most projects use hands-on learning experiences to teach subject matter and life-skills such as cooperation, leadership, and decision-making — skills that can be applied over and over for a lifetime.

A 4-H Club may include any or all of these elements: a business meeting, a program, activities, recreation and refreshments. Clubs elect officers and often develop committees. An integral part of 4-H Clubs are projects. Participation is the key in 4-H. The more that you do, the more you will get out of it and the more friends you will be able to make. There are so many different activities — something for everyone!
