Does it feel like a variety of seasons all in one week? Cool mornings, some rain drops here and there, and frost! All a reminder that life changes with each season God gives us. May God watch over those who are harvesting His crops and bless them in abundance.
Wednesday from 3:30-5:00 at Grant City UMC. After-school program, "Make a joyful noise," is going well. May the children learn songs to strengthen their faith as they grow in Christ.
Wednesday at 6, we congregated with hopeful hearts that God will hear our prayers and songs of praise we sing for Him. After that, we went to the church board meeting, electing new officers for the year. Preparations for the district meeting October 16th are falling into place and a lot of paperwork for six parishes and one minister. Keep our minister and congregations in prayer as we do God's work.
Our all-parish choir has some high and low notes. Rehearsal was at Hopkins UMC this week. The last rehearsal will be at 9:00 a.m., just before the service, Sunday, September 30th at 10:30 at the all-parish gathering in the Grant City UMC. Following the service will be an old-fashioned carry-in potluck dinner at noon. Drinks and table service will be provided. The theme is gratitude and giving thanks to God for the blessings He's given us. We shall feast on a meal the Lord has helped us prepare. We have so much to thank God for!
We continue in the series of "Getting it Right with our Neighbor." Who is our neighbor? Pastor Janis was at the pulpit with a sermon on our being judgmental of others. Let us make sure our hands are clean before we try to wash our neighbors. May we live more at peace with our neighbors with different cultures and attitudes. With the election drawing near, it is a good time to be developing a good attitude towards our neighbors near and abroad. As God's light of the world, it is best to set good examples.
May God bless you and remember -- all-parish church will be in Grant City Sunday at 10:30. The choir will practice at 9:30. May we sing to God in thanks for all He's allowed us to do. See you in church!
