Junior High Bluejays, Mustangs Compete at Highway 275 Meet

The Northeast Nodaway and North Nodaway junior high track teams competed for the last time at the Highway 275 conference meet last Tuesday, May 2nd.

For the girls, Rock Port ran away with it with 155 points. East Atchison had 73.5, Nodaway Valley 65.6, Mound City 60, South Holt 33, Stewartsville/Osborn 32, NEN 20, Buchanan County Middle School 14, Platte Valley 6, Union Star 4, and North Nodaway 2.

For the boys, Rock Port had 126, Nodaway Valley 110, East Atchison 58, South Holt 44, Platte Valley 35, Mound City 33, NEN 21, North Nodaway 18, Union Star 10, Buchanan County Middle School 5, and Stewartsville/Osborn 5.

NEN

Blair Nelson was third in the High Jump with a height of 4’6”. Brianna Meyer was sixth in the Discus with a throw of 61’5½”. She was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 27’5½”. Nelson was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 13’6¼”. Georgia Taylor matched a personal best with a jump of 11’3½”. 

The Bluejays got two personal bests in the 100. Rylee Scadden got a personal best of 15.08, while Georgia Taylor got a personal best of 16.31. Piper Gray got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 33.70. 

The 4x100 team of Piper Gray, Rylee Scadden, Brianna Meyer, and Holly Bennett was fifth with a time of 1:05.17. 

Brianna Meyer was sixth in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:55.71.

The 4x400 team of Sadie Hall, Georgia Taylor, Bristol Hicks, and Rylee Scadden was fifth with a personal best time of 5:13.29. That was 11 seconds better than their previous best time and 43 seconds better than at the start of the year.

For the boys, Toryn Privett got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 86 feet. He nearly doubled his throw from the start of the year. Jace Burns got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 22’1”. 

Reece Gray was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 17’¼”. Xander Bodle matched a personal best with a jump of 10’7½”. 

Jude Archer got a personal best in the 100 prelims with a time of 12.89. He finished fourth with a time of 13.01. Reece Gray got a personal best in the 100 prelims with a time of 13.06. He finished sixth with a time of 13.13. 

Wyatt Scadden got a personal best in the 200 prelims with a time of 29.17. He was sixth with a time of 29.38. Xander Bodle got a personal best with a time of 32.12, three seconds better than his previous high.

Chase Allen got a season best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 23.07. Jude Archer was third in the 400 with a time of 1:00.55, close to a personal best. Allen got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:42.40. 

The 4x400 team of Reece Gray, Liam Cordell, Jude Archer, and Lance Runde was sixth with a personal best time of 4:30.85. They improved 14 seconds since the start of the season.

North Nodaway

For the girls, Jenayeah Howard got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 49’11¼”. Lily Blaine got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 24’10¾”. Zoey Phillips got another personal best with a jump of 22’1¼”. 

Mya Hansen got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 32.01 in the prelims. She finished eighth with a time of 32.30. Pyper Smith got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 22.91. 

The 4x200 team of Mya Hansen, Trynzlee Ebrecht, Lily Blaine, and Laney Turner was fifth with a personal best time of 2:12.77. 

Pyper Smith got a personal best in the 1600 with a time of 7:52.08. She improved by over a minute from the start of the year. Smith also got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:30.89. She improved over her last run by over 8 seconds. 

Taccoa Moyer got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 3:19.70. That was an improvement of 33 seconds from her last run. 

For the boys, Marek Stevens got a personal best in the High Jump with a height of 4’2”. Tommy Stringer got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 20’2¼”. 

Ridge Clements won the Long Jump with a jump of 17’7½”, close to a personal best. Clements was third in the 200 with a time of 27.09. Owen Coleman got a personal best with a time of 34.96. 

Jackson Keho was seventh in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 20.36, .75 of a second faster than his previous best. 

Ridge Clements was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.28. Draven Rader got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 3:03.46, over 11 seconds better than his previous best time.
