Area Courthouse, Police, and Crime Reports for September 16th, 2026

On August 14^th, Cody Davis (35) of Keokuk (IA) pleaded guilty in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). He was fined $350 plus costs by Judge Jay Hemenway.

On September 2^nd, Laura Thompson (28) of Maryville pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). She was fined $400 plus costs by Judge Robert Rice.

On September 8^th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 70 year old King City woman suffered injuries when the SUV she was driving on Route 169 in Union Star ran off the road and struck a building.

On September 8^th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Deiter filed charges against Julien Phipps (19) of Frakes (KY) alleging DWI (Physical Injury, Felony), Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway, No Valid License, and No Seat Belt.

On September 8^th, Vanessa Halterman (43) of Maryville pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of Stealing. She was placed on two years probation by Judge Robert Rice.

On September 9^th, Bridget Edie (36) of White Cloud (KS) pleaded guilty in Gentry County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of Trespassing. She was assessed $212.50 in fines and costs by Judge Rebecca McGinley.

On September 9^th, the Western Missouri US Attorney’s Office announced charges against Dustin Hill (22) of Florence (AZ) in conjunction with an abduction of a girl from a Rock Port football game last year. The defendant is charged with Attempted Enticement, Travel with Intent to Engage in Illicit Sexual Conduct, Transportation of a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity, and Transfer of Obscene Material to a Minor.

On September 9^th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 34-year-old female driver from Pattonsburg failed to yield the right of way on 3^rd Street in Winston and drove into the path of a pickup driven by a 48-year-old Winston driver. The Pattonsburg driver received minor injuries.

On September 9^th, Michael Updegraff pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections by Judge Daren Adkins.

On September 9^th, Jimmy Stanhope (42) of Gallatin pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to a charge of Domestic Assault. He was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections by Judge Daren Adkins. Court retains jurisdiction for 120 days, and the DOC will make recommendations regarding incarceration or probation.

On September 9^th, Kelly Hill (49) of Coffey pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Felony). Defendant was placed on five years probation by Judge Daren Adkins. Defendant must attend Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous two times per week.

On September 9^th, Angela Herman (57) of St. Joseph pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was placed on five years probation by Judge Daren Adkins.

On September 9^th, Sarah Spears (36) of Grant City pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to two counts Endangering the Welfare of a Child (1 Felony). She was placed on five years probation by Judge Daren Adkins. Defendant may have no contact with victims. Defendant must get full-time employment within 60 days.

On September 9^th, Pedro Gaeta (55) of Kansas City (KS) pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to charges of DWI (4^th, Felony), Failure to Comply with Ignition Interlock, Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident), and No Insurance. He was placed on five years probation by Judge Daren Adkins. Defendant must serve 120 days shock time, pay a $300 fine plus court costs, attend AA meetings two times per week, and take care of North Kansas City municipal case within 60 days.

On September 9^th, Coty Mewes (36) of Galt pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to a charge of Trafficking Drugs (Felony). He was sentenced to eight years in the Missouri Department of Corrections by Judge Daren Adkins.

On September 9^th, Crystal Tanner (43) of Breckinridge pleaded guilty in Daviess County Circuit Court to charges of Failure to Register as Sex Offender (Felony) and Animal Abandonment. She was sentenced to six years in the Missouri Department of Corrections by Judge Daren Adkins. Defendant must make restitution of $400.

On September 9^th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Deiter filed charges against Elijah Bertz (20) of Blue Springs alleging DWI and Speeding (86 mph).

On September 10^th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Jessica Hansuld (33) of Gallatin alleging Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony), Domestic Assault, and Peace Disturbance. Bond was set at $20,000, cash only. No contact with victim, witnesses, or any minor under 18. Prosecutor Gibson also charged Michael Edwards (41) of Gallatin with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony). Bond was set at $10,000, cash only. No contact with the victim or witnesses.

On September 10^th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Deiter filed charges against Nathan Brown (37) of Maryville alleging Violation of Protection Order and Stealing.

On September 10^th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Deiter filed charges against Danny Chesnut (65) of Maryville alleging Violation of Protection Order.

On September 10^th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Deiter filed charges against Meghan Markt (21) of Oregon alleging DWI (Felony, Physical Injury) and Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On September 10^th, Phylicia Harner (34) of St. Joseph pleaded guilty in Gentry County Circuit Court to a charge of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony). She was sentenced to three years in the Missouri Department of Corrections by Judge Corey Herron.

On September 10^th, Mikkaela Moore (38) of Stanberry pleaded guilty in Gentry County Circuit Court to a charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was placed on two years probation by Judge Corey Herron. Defendant must serve 20 days shock time with credit for time served. Defendant must testify against co-defendant. No contact with victim. No unsupervised contact with other minor children.  

On September 10^th, Terrance Little (45) of Tampa (FL) pleaded guilty in Gentry County Circuit Court to a charge of Forgery (Felony). He was placed on five years probation by Judge Corey Herron. Defendant must serve 120 days shock time with credit for 13.

On September 10^th, Steven Harris (57) of St. Joseph pleaded guilty in Gentry County Circuit Court to a charge of Possession of Controlled Substance. He was placed on five years probation by Judge Corey Herron. Defendant must serve 60 days shock time with credit for time served.

On September 10^th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Deiter filed charges against Adam Hunt (36) of Maryville alleging DWI (Prior).

On September 10^th, Randall Sego (60) of Stanberry pleaded guilty in Gentry County Circuit Court to a charge of DWI (Felony). He was placed on five years probation by Judge Corey Herron. Defendant must successfully complete 60 hours of community service. Defendant must serve 30 days shock time in jail with credit for time served. Defendant must maintain SCRAM device until November 1^st except while in jail. Defendant must successfully enroll and complete the Fourth Judicial Circuit DWI program.

On September 10^th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Deiter filed charges against Larry Holbrook (64) of Maryville alleging Burglary (Felony) and Stealing. Bond was set at $5,000 with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.

On September 11^th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Bryan McGuire (35) of Jamesport alleging two counts Burglary (Felony) and Stealing. Defendant to be released on his own recognizance. Defendant may have no contact with the victim.
