David Earl Nally was born November 2, 1938 in Sheridan, Missouri to Norvel and Alice (Runyon) Nally. He grew to maturity on the family farm near Oxford, Missouri attending country school through the 8th grade. David attended high school in Grant City, graduating in 1956. While in school, David played basketball and football, with the football team only losing 1 game during his senior year.

David married his high school sweetheart, LuElla Thomas, in Saint Joseph, Missouri on August 17, 1956. To this union two children, David Earl and Dan were born. The couple lived in Saint Joseph until moving back to Oxford in 1958 to begin farming. In 1962 the family moved to the Blockton area where they lived and farmed until David's passing. At some point David became affectionately known as "Chief" and the nick name stuck. Some folks didn't even know that wasn't his real first name!

David loved the farm life and all that it provided. David and LuElla enjoyed line and square dancing, attending activities of their children, grandchildren and great-children and going on vacations with their family and extended family. David enjoyed participating in and watching tractor pulling, a gene he passed onto his son Dan, as well as watching westerns. David served as a Taylor County Supervisor from January 1985 to December 1999.  David could be heard talking politics with Marven Weed and playing cards with the Weed clan, even if Donnie and Lonnie cheated constantly. David was a Mason and a member of Taylor Lodge #156.

David's greatest joy was being around his family, no matter the occasion or event. He was always present with a smile and always willing to help in any way he could.

Left to cherish David's memory is his wife of 67 years, LuElla Nally; son, Dan Nally and wife Cindy; grandson, Jeremy Nally and wife Erin; great-grandsons, Micah, Ashton and Brantley Nally; brother, Gary Nally; sisters, Willa Auffert and Linda Parker and special family, Jason, Nicole, Jax and Bria Starnes; along with other relatives and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Norvel and Alice Nally; in-laws, Kenneth and Emily Thomas; son, David Earl Nally; granddaughter, Ashley Nally; brother, Donnie Nally; sister, Marilyn Roberts; brothers-in-laws, Leo Auffert and Dick Roberts; and sister-in-law Phyllis Nally.
