Grant City Denied Building Demo Grant

The Grant City Council learned at its meeting Wednesday that it was denied the Building Demolition Grant. In order to qualify for the grant, the city had to complete everything and submit the grant within 90 days, which they did not do. The council discussed other ways of funding the demolition and decided to call a meeting with the County Commission and the Worth County Progress Organization to brainstorm ideas. A special meeting will be set up at a future date.

City Administrator Meggan Brown reported that she obtained a book of charge codes with the proper codes. Procedure for enforcing ordinances was discussed. She will contact other towns to determine a fine schedule. After the fine schedule is determined, the council will approved it at a future meeting.

Citizens in violation will get an initial letter. If no results are achieved after a determined amount of time, they will get a door hanger. If no results are obtained, then a fine will be written by the Sheriff’s Department. If a matter needs to go to court, the council will be involved before it goes to court.

City Clerk Farrah Richey reported that the city is in the process of having Clerkbooks installed. She and Meggan will have training.

The 2022 audit is complete. The new SAM Registration Renewal is complete so that the city can accept federal funds.

The council voted to donate $100 to the Worth County After Prom.
