Worth County’s junior high girls went from one of their easiest meets of the year on Tuesday, April 14th to one of their toughest challenges in Stanberry Thursday as they were pushed all meet long by Stanberry and Northeast Nodaway. But they pulled through as Renae Gladstone one three different events and continued to win. Gladstone was first in the 100 Hurdles and the Pole Vault, and she was on the winning 4x200 Relay squad.
The girls won with 118.33 points. Stanberry had 91.33, NEN 77, Albany 49, Rock Port 47, Platte Valley 45, Princeton 36, North Nodaway 30, King City 28, Pattonsburg 25, North Harrison 15.33, and East Harrison 2.
Brooklyn Smith was third in the 100 with a time of 14.03. Kaydence Downing was fourth in the 400 with a personal best time of 1:10.18. Karleigh Guinn was seventh with a time of 1:15.37. Hadley Rush was fourth in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:52.35. Kinley Fletchall was sixth with a personal best time of 2:55.33. Kaeslyn Briner was seventh in the 1600 with a time of 7:14.42. Renae Gladstone won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.05. Jolee Hauber was fourth with a time of 19.91.
The 4x200 team of Kaydence Downing, Brecklyn Rush, Renae Gladstone, and Hadley Rush won with a time of 2:02.63. The 4x400 team of Karleigh Guinn, Jolee Hauber, Alexis Snead, and Kylie Combs was sixth with a time of 5:11.83. The Sprint Medley team was second with a time of 2:15.55.
Jane Hawk was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.09 meters. Catelynn Moyer was seventh with a throw of 8.64 meters. Jane Hawk got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 24.73 meters, good enough for second place. Gabbey Maudlin was fifth with a throw of 21.19 meters.
Kinley Fletchall was third in the High Jump with a height of 1.30 meters. Renae Gladstone won the Pole Vault with a height of 2.13 meters. Hadley Rush was tied for second with a jump of 1.83 meters. Brooklyn Smith won the Long Jump with a jump of 4.57 meters. Kaydence Downing was fourth with a jump of 3.75 meters. Hadley Rush won the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.05 meters. Brecklyn Rush was fifth with a personal best jump of 8.85 meters.
The boys had an easier time of it as they won with 118 points. King City had 79, Stanberry 69, Princeton 55, Albany 54, Rock Port 50, Platte Valley 50, North Harrison 37, North Nodaway 28, NEN 23, and East Harrison 5.
Cole Hardy won the 100 with a time of 12.10. Hudson Cameron was fourth with a time of 12.83. Cole Hardy won the 200 by almost two seconds with a time of 25.62. Cole Hardy was second in the 400 with a personal best time of 57.22.
The Tigers were 1-2 in the 100 Hurdles as Max Hiatt got a personal best with a time of 17.03. Silas Brown was second with a time of 17.60, also a personal best.
The 4x200 team of Max Hiatt, Gunnar Smith, Jarrett Gilland, and Hudson Cameron was second with a time of 1:51.02. The Sprint Medley team of Gunnar Smith, Jace Mullock, Jarrett Gilland, and David Wideman was second with a time of 2:05.61.
Gunnar Smith was third in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.12. Weston Hill was fourth with a personal best throw of 10.11. Jakob Herbert was fifth in the Discus with a personal best throw of 27.64 meters.
Jarrett Gilland was fifth in the High Jump with a height of 1.45 meters. Max Hiatt edged Gilland in the Pole Vault on tiebreaks; both had a height of 2.44 meters. Silas Brown was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.71 meters. Silas Brown won the Triple Jump with a personal best jump of 11.37 meters. Jace Mullock was seventh with a jump of 9.09 meters.
