Ed Andrews 1943-2026

Eddie Lee Andrews, age 82, Kansas City, MO, formerly of Grant City, MO, died Monday, April 6, 2026 at McCrite Plaza in Kansas City where he was a resident. Eddie was born August 27, 1943 in Grant City. He was the son of the late John and Pauline (Ferguson) Andrews. Following high school graduation from Grant City, class of 1961, Eddie attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO for one year. There he met the love of his life, Sharon Gridley. Eddie then went to Dallas, TX, where he graduated from the Dallas Institute - Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science. Eddie and Sharon were married in 1963 in Villisca, IA, and then settled in Grant City. To this union three children were born Jodi, Todd, and a son who died in infancy.

Eddie was very active in the community until experiencing health issues. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Rotary Club, the Jaycee’s and the Grant City Golf Club. As a young man, he was a member of the Grant City Saddle Club. At age 16, he rode his horse, Joker, in the official re-enactment of the Pony Express from St. Joe, MO, to Salt Lake City, UT. Eddie also served as an emergency medical technician for the Worth County Ambulance Service for many years.

Eddie and Sharon were the owners of Andrews Funeral Home and Andrews Hardware and Furniture in Grant City. They closed the hardware and furniture store but continued to operate the funeral home until moving to Kansas City in 2015.

Eddie loved to hunt, fish, and golf, and was the proud owner of several good hunting dogs. He loved to go to Royals games with family and friends, and faithfully listened to them on the radio.

His biggest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren. He would regularly drive two hours each way for elementary field day or a 30 minute elementary school volleyball game without hesitation.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and an infant brother.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Sharon, children Jodi (Brent) Ravenscraft and Todd (Amy) Andrews, grandchildren Jamie Ravenscraft, Luke (Dannie) Ravenscraft, Mara Andrews and Grant Andrews, great-grandchildren Colby and Nora Ravenscraft, siblings John C. (Jo Ellen) Andrews, Diane (Tom) Snow, and Betty (Dave) Merriman and brother-in-law Alan Gridley, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Eddie’s body has been cremated under the care of Andrews-Hann Funeral Home, Grant City. A Celebration of Life for Eddie will be held at 2 PM, April 25, 2026 at the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Grant City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Worth County High School Athletic Department.
