Landon Johnson got two hits for North Harrison Saturday, and the Shamrocks survived a barrage of home runs to beat South Harrison 6-4 Saturday. Gage Fortner pitched the win, and Tate Richardson got the save.
Tate Richardson in center and Wyatt Maize at shortstop made catches in the field to keep South Harrison off the board in the Bulldog first.
Richardson led off the Shamrock first with a four pitch walk and stole second. Walks lead to errors, which lead to runs, and sure enough, Ryker Fortner reached on an error as Tate Richardson took third. Fortner took second on defensive indifference. Richardson scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0 as Ryker Fortner took third. Gage Fortner walked. Fortner took second on defensive indifference. Andrew Craig reached on an error as Ryker Fortner scored to make it 2-0 and Gage Fortner took third. Dustin Hamilton grounded out to score Gage Fortner to make it 3-0.
Brody Templeton hit a home run for South Harrison in the second to cut its deficit to 3-1. Shamrock catcher Dustin Hamilton prevented further damage by throwing Kason King out stealing.
Tate Richardson doubled in the Shamrock third to lead off. South Harrison nearly got out of the inning as Ryker Fortner flied out and Gage Fortner popped out. But Tate Richardson stole third and Andrew Craig reached on a dropped pop fly as Tate Richardson scored to make it 4-1. Dustin Hamilton was plunked, putting Andrew Craig on second. Wyatt Maize reached on an error as Cole Hartschen (running for Craig) and Dustin Hamilton scored to make it 6-1.
South Harrison responded with a barrage in the fourth as Korbin Heyle singled, Ruger Johnson homered, and Brody Templeton got his second home run to cut the Bulldog deficit to 6-4. Kyler Kimbrough made a catch in right field to prevent further damage.
Brody Templeton walked in the South Harrison sixth to lead off the inning, but Dustin Hamilton cut down his second runner stealing to erase the threat. Gage Fortner struck out Teagan Alexander and Kason King to get out of the inning.
