Kambree Briner Posts Career High as Girls Beat Princeton

Kambree Briner was the one player from either team who could score Tuesday night, and Worth County’s girls climbed out of a first quarter hole to beat Princeton 30-27.

The Tigers were down 9-2 to the Blue Tigers after one. But then, they suddenly realized they could play basketball with them and Kambree discovered a newfound ability to score in bunches, getting eight in the second quarter as Worth County regained the lead by the half at 14-13. The rest of the game was close all the way before Worth County came away with the win.

Kambree Briner had a career high 16 points for the Tigers. Audrey Runde had 5, Megan Tracy 4, Rylee Ruckman and Kristen Tracy 2, and Kynlee Steele 1.

The boys played their worst game of the year against fifth-ranked Princeton. They had played everyone, even good teams, tough. But they dug themselves into a 17-4 first quarter hole and trailed 34-14 by the half. Worth County trailed between 20 and 26 points throughout the second half, falling 61-35.

Caleb New was the lone bright spot for the Tigers, getting 16 for the night. Brock Healy had 8, Jordan Dannar 4, Hayden Sanders 3, and Wes Brown and Ethan Lininger 2 each.
