Emily Joan McLain, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at her home in Maryville, Missouri. Born on August 16th, 1948, in Ravenwood, Missouri, Emily lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Emily is survived by her devoted husband, Don McLain, of the home. She was the cherished mother of David (Lisa) McLain of Kirksville, MO, Paula (Bryan O'Riley) McLain of Maryville, MO and Brett (Kristy) McLain of Maryville, MO. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jacob (Sienna) McLain, Nikayla (Max) Rourke, Evan McLain, Rileigh McLain, and Josie McLain, who brought immense joy to her life.
Emily is also survived by her loving sisters, Anita (E.L.) Ralston-Burch of Parkville, MO, Debbie (Pat) Montgomery of Lathrop, MO, and Char-lane (Kevin) Cordry of St. Joseph, MO. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends who will miss her dearly.
Preceded in death by her parents, Harry Burton Ralston and Maretha Charlene Ralston, as well as her great nephew, Hunter Burch, great niece, Sarah Campbell, and great niece-in-law, Tiffany Cordry, Emily is now reunited with them in peace.
A graduate of Maryville High School, Emily pursued her passion for flowers by becoming a florist and was the proud owner of her own flower shop, Emily's Flower Shack, for many years, in Maryville, Missouri. Her love for flowers extended beyond her business, as she volunteered at Camp Quality for many years, bringing joy and beauty to the children there.
Emily's interests were as vibrant as her personality. She loved gardening, cooking, and taking care of her family. Her loving pets held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Emily enjoyed horseback riding, visiting casinos, antiquing, and traveling, always seeking new adventures and experiences.
A memorial service to celebrate Emily's life will be held at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are provided by Bram Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the New Nodaway Humane Society.
Emily Joan McLain will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
