Hazel Esther Jackson, daughter of Homer and Diamond (Bowman) Ruckman, was born May 10, 1930, at Diagonal, Iowa. Hazel attended and graduated from Mount Ayr High School. Following graduation, Hazel worked as a secretary for the Ringgold County attorney.
On December 15, 1949, Hazel was united in marriage to John Delbert Jackson at the Baptist Church in Mount Ayr. Hazel and Delbert spent their lives on their farm north of Allendale, Missouri. They raised their four children; William Delbert, Susan Lynn, Michael Alan, and John Jay, in the house that Delbert’s great grandfather, James Jackson, built.
Hazel was a loving wife and mother who cared for her family while serving the community she lived in. Hazel was very active with the Allendale Community Betterment activities, including the Allendale 4th of July activities and the Allendale Rodeo. She volunteered at the Grant City Thrift Store. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Grant City, MO. Hazel and Delbert moved to Mount Ayr, living on Jackson Street. After Delbert’s passing, Hazel became a resident of Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.
Hazel passed away January 11, 2026, at Clearview Home. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert on June 26, 2016; son William Delbert; siblings Helen (Thomas) Shay, John E. Ruckman, Doris L. England, Jerry L. Ruckman at age 2, Paul E. Ruckman, Mary Ellen (Chuck) Shimerdla.
Survivors include her children Susan (Manny) Trujillo, Michael Jackson, John (Debbie) Jackson; eight grandchildren Levi (Hilary) Trujillo, Dari (Mike) Salvo, Jr, Brooke (John) Frye, Karin Jackson, Drew Jackson, Amy Jackson, Adam Jackson (Anthony), Alex (Valentina) Jackson; 4 great grandchildren; brother Rex E. Ruckman; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established for the Allendale Community Betterment.
