Grant City Seeks CDBG Grant for Dilapidated Houses

The City of Grant City is looking into a CDBG grant to tear down dilapidated houses. City Administrator Lizzie Jeanes reported at the Grant City Council Meeting Wednesday that she had sent out 18 letters to property owners and that she had gotten back three with the necessary paperwork. She is hoping that if the city shows a greater need, it will get more points on the grant.

The lagoon is getting closer to being done; progress is dependent on the weather in the next 30 days.

The council opened sealed bids for property that it was selling. The council voted to sell one lot to Carlin Carson for $200 and Tyler Steele for $501 for another.

Ryan Fletchall reported that the water tower was inspected and repairs have been done. He reported working on the valve in one lagoon cell. He has also done manhole inspections for the sewer project.

Tyson Troutwine reported working on Briggs Street, which has been seeing major wear from heavy truck traffic. The goal is to repair it completely after the lagoon project is complete. He reported cutting shoulders of streets to help with water runoff.
