Traffic Could Increase on Side Roads During 169 Closure

Increased traffic on side roads during the upcoming closure of 169 for bridge work has raised concerns from landowners regarding dust and potholes, the Worth County Commission learned Monday. Maintenance work could include repair of potholes along with spraying down the road with water to reduce dust.

The rock quarry at Bethany is out of rock and the Ravenwood quarry is short. The county is trying to get tax rock put in at Allendale.

The grader purchased by the county in 2016 was returned from the repair shop. The county is looking at its options regarding using it up or trading it in.

Presiding Commissioner Jubal Summers reported that he had went to the area Commissioners Meeting in Milan. While there, he asked other commissioners about how the Agri-Ready designation was working. The Gentry County commissioners didn’t realize they had that status while Harrison County’s reported nothing had happened in the several years since they obtained it.

July 14th is the last day to sign up to appeal tax assessments to the Board of Equalization. The Board of Equalization meeting will be July 21st.

The red truck that the road & bridge crew uses lost all its antifreeze.
