On May 21st, Jaren Zerbe (20) of Gilman City pleaded guilty in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court to charges of DWI, Speeding, No Insurance, No Seat Belt, and No Plates. He was placed on two years probation by Judge Jay Hemenway and was fined $237.50 plus court costs. Defendant must also make payment of $300 to the Law Enforcement Restitution Fund.
On May 25th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Desiree Colner (23) of Maryville in Nodaway County on charges of DWI, Failure to Register, and No Insurance.
On May 27th, Jay Lee Thomas (43) of Bethany failed to appear in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court on a charge of No Valid License (Felony). A warrant was issued and bond set at $2,500, cash only.
On May 27th, Rebecca Lewis (26) of Bethany pleaded guilty in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was placed on two years probation by Judge Jay Hemenway and ordered to pay $300 to the Law Enforcement Restitution Fund. Defendant must follow all orders of the Juvenile Court and Children’s Division.
On May 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Christopher Moore (35) of Maryville alleging Assault.
On May 27th, the Western Missouri US Attorney’s Office reported that Uriah Behl (40) of Carthage (MO) pleaded guilty in federal court to one count Sexual Exploitation of Children. The defendant had allegedly placed a camera in a community shower room in Carthage. The defendant had allegedly downloaded 161 images of child pornography from the Internet. He faces 15 to 30 years in prison without parole. The defendant will be required to register as a sex offender upon release. Sentencing will be imposed at a later date.
On May 27th, the Western Missouri US Attorney’s Office reported Aaron Williams (34) of Springfield pleaded guilty to a charge of Felon in Possession of Firearm in federal court. The charges arose after officers allegedly discovered the defendant sleeping in his running vehicle in a convenience store parking lot with a firearm beside him. He faces up to 15 years in prison without parole. Sentencing will be imposed at a later date.
On May 27th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department reported that it had been investigating possible criminal activity at Ramsey Farms east of Mount Ayr in Ringgold County. The Sheriff’s Department, in a news release, alleges that four different addresses on it were being used as a drug hub and hangout for individuals using and selling controlled substances. Subsequently, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Laura Vaughn (52) of Mount Ayr on charges of Gathering Where Controlled Substances are Used (Felony), Maintaining a Drug House, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $9,300, cash only. The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested James Castillo (32) of Mount Ayr on charges of Conspiracy to Distribute Controlled Substance, two counts Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, and two counts Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. These are federal charges. Bond was denied.
On May 27th, the Western Missouri US Attorney’s Office reported that Federal Judge Beth Phillips sentenced James Paden (63) of Kansas City to 12 years in prison without parole after he pleaded guilty to Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute and Unlawful Possession of Firearms.
On May 27th, the Western Missouri US Attorney’s Office reported that Theo Cooke (34) pleaded guilty in Federal Court to Bank Fraud. The defendant allegedly submitted applications for automobile loans from local financial institutions using stolen identities, dates of birth, and social security numbers. The defendant allegedly obtained $199,000 in fraudulent loans. Sentencing will be done at a later date. The defendant faces up to 30 years without parole.
On May 28th, Harrison County Prosecutor Michael Wulff filed charges against Travis Ogier (55) of St. Joseph alleging Escape from Confinement (Felony). Bond was denied. An affidavit from the Missouri Department of Mental Health alleges that the defendant, in 1994, was committed to the State Department of Mental Health on the grounds of mental disease or defect excluding responsibility for Murder (1st Degree), Arson, and Armed Criminal Action in Harrison County. On February 17th, he was allowed by a judge to reside in an independent setting. On May 26th, the defendant allegedly walked away from that arrangement.
On May 28th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that at 12:21 pm on Route 6 and 190 in Daviess County, a 2013 Jeep Cherokee attempted to make a left turn when it was struck by a 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood. The driver of the Cadillac, a 45 year old man, received serious injuries. The driver of the Jeep, a 62 year old woman, received moderate injuries.
On May 28th, the Southern Iowa US Attorney’s Office reported that Cassandra Strube (40) of Colona (IL) was placed on three years probation for Stealing. The defendant had worked as an administrator for some nursing facilities. The defendant allegedly stole prescription drugs from facilities’ emergency kits and medication rooms. The defendant must pay $1,975.61 in restitution, $5,000 in fines, and a $200 special assessment.
On May 28th, Harrison County Prosecutor Michael Wulff filed charges against Jennifer Babbick (36) of Ridgeway alleging Distribution of Controlled Substance at Protected Location (Felony). Bond was denied.
On May 28th, the Western Missouri US Attorney’s Office reported that Jacob Dodge (26) of Independence was charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Drug Crime.
On May 28th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Robert McNutt (46) on charges of Sex Offender Registration Violation and Contempt of Court. He was held on no bond until seen by the magistrate. He also faces charges in Gentry County and Taylor County.
On May 29th, the Maryville Forum and other news outlets printed more information about the arrest of Jon Worrell in Maryville in conjunction with the 2006 murder of his wife in Coffee County (GA). Authorities initially believed the victim, Doris, was killed in a botched robbery attempt. But in fact, authorities now allege the defendant ran off with their live-in nanny to Costa Rica. After the relationship ended, the defendant moved to Maryville in 2023. But authorities got a break when they found the nanny and she was willing to talk. Worrell was subsequently arrested in Nodaway County and extradited to Coffee County to face murder charges.
On May 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Jason Langley (49) of St. Joseph and Christy Hamilton (49) of St. Joseph alleging Burglary (Felony) and Stealing. An affidavit from the Maryville Police Department alleges the defendants entered the Maryville Wal-Mart and stole merchandise from the store.
On May 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Erica McEwen (25) of Maryville alleging DWI and Assault (Felony).

On May 29th, the Southern Iowa US Attorney’s Office reported that Larry Knotts (61) of Burlington (IA) was sentenced to 17 years in prison for Distribution of Methamphetamine and five years supervised release.
On May 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Michael Wulff filed charges against Anaise Saulters (29) of Bethany alleging Assault (Felony). Bond was denied.
On May 31st. Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Alton Ward (60) of Hamilton alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Register. Bond was denied. Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson also filed charges against Lisa Reynolds (51) of Winston alleging Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $5,000, cash only, with no contact with co-defendant and must wear drug patch.
On May 31st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 34 year old Albany man was injured when the ATV he was driving overturned after going off the roadway on Route EE three miles north of New Hampton.
On June 2nd, Trevor Wolf (20) of St. Joseph pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Circuit Court to two counts of Burglary (Felony). He was placed on five years probation by Judge Corey Herron. Defendant must make $680 in restitution to the victim.
On June 2nd, John Pierson (34) of St. Joseph failed to appear in Nodaway County Circuit Court on charges of Forgery (Felony), and two counts Fraudulent Use of a Credit Device, A warrant was issued and bond set at $100, cash only.
On June 2nd, Jamie Justice (41) of Maryville failed to appear in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court on 10 counts of Burglary (Felony), Property Damage (Felony), and Possession of Burglary Tools (Felony). A warrant was issued and bond was denied.
On June 2nd, Larry Miller (32) of Skidmore pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Circuit Court to a charge of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Felony), and Forgery (Felony). Defendant, along with co-defendant, must make $1,500 restitution to Nodaway Valley Bank. He was placed on five years probation by Judge Corey Herron.
On June 2nd, Latrisha McMillen (46) of Ravenwood pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Circuit Court to a charge of Possession of Controlled Substance. She was placed on five years probation by Judge Corey Herron.
On June 2nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Michael Wulff filed charges against Michael Wood (37) of Bethany alleging Domestic Assault (Felony). Bond was set at $30,000, cash only. Defendant may not possess or consume alcohol or drugs, may not enter bars or liquor stores, have no contact with the victim, may not be within 900 feet of her residence or place of employment, must be on house arrest, and must wear GPS.
Charges listed are merely allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
