Marvin Lee Mercer was born on June 8, 1936 to Cleo and Rubye (DeShazer) Mercer. He passed away on June 24, 2025 at the age of 89.
Marvin graduated from Worth County High
School in 1954. He went on to get his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of
Missouri. Marvin married Patsy Jo Hoech
on August 18, 1957 in Warrenton, Missouri.
To this union 4 children were born.
He taught
school in Stanberry, Missouri from 1957-1958. After a short career of teaching
he decided that farming was what he wanted to do so he spent the rest of his
time enjoying the hard work of farming. Marvin was a member of the United Methodist
Church in Grant City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pat
in 2017, parents, and son-in-law Michael Henggeler.
He is survived by children; Richard Mercer
of Blockton, Iowa, David (Nancy) Mercer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Kent Mercer
of Lebanon, Missouri and Anita Henggeler of Ravenwood, Missouri, grandchildren;
Kari Mercer, Kevin Mercer, Jessica Simpson, Jason Henggeler, Alyssa Mercer
Evers , great-grandchildren, Zavonna Mercer, Zachary Mercer, Cole Mercer,
Joanna Simpson, Amelia Simpson, Natalie Simpson, and friends.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City,
Missouri. Burial will be in the Grant City Cemetery. Visitation will be from
6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials made be made to the Grant City
Cemetery or Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
