Grant City Administrator Lizzie Jeanes reported at the regular City Council meeting last Tuesday that the city had mowed five property owners’ lawns that the city said were in violation of city ordinances and have sent them the bill. Under city ordinances, if lawns are left to grow too high, the city can now the property in question and charge property owners $250 per mow. Failure to pay will mean the city assessing the bill on their taxes.
The Lover’s Lane sewer project and the wastewater treatment plant project are both underway.
Ryan Fletchall reported helping install new gas lines. There was an issue with the electricity at the booster station. A snake got into the breaker box and fried it. It has been repaired. The city will be flushing more fire hydrants.
Carl Staton reported putting in two new gas lines and helping the school locate lines they have no way of finding.
The city and the DOT completed a project involving putting in new tubes at 46 & Main Street. Tyson Troutwine reported that the city was working on the ditch up by Judd Summers’ to help with runoff at the ballpark. The city is still cleaning out the route where the water main runs.
The council gave permission for the Extension to use the lobby of City Hall for a leadership class they plan to hold from September 9th to November 11th.
A building permit for Allen Cameron was approved.
