Princeton to Offer Tiny Homes Class for 2026-27 School Year

On August 14th, the Princeton School District reported on its Facebook Page that it would launch a new elective, Tiger Trades & Tiny Homes, starting in the 2026-27 school year.

Princeton will tram up with local trade-specific contractors, including carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, to design and build affordable homes that fit the needs of the community. While “Tiny Homes” is the name of the program, they are hopeful to build multiple-bedroom, multiple-bathroom homes that address that community’s housing shortage.

The project is paid for by a $300,000 grant from the Patterson Family Foundation. That money will be used to get tools, materials, and resources to start the program. In the future, proceeds from the sale of the homes will continue to fund the program. The school will be hiring a per-time instructor who will also serve as a general contractor.
