Funeral Service for Forest Young, 77, of Athelstan, Iowa will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Cummings Family Funeral Home in Bedford, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Athelstan Cemetery in Athelstan. Forest Ray "Toke" Young was born on September 26, 1947 to Burtle and Pauline (Cordell) Young in Plad, Missouri. He passed away in his sleep on August 19, 2025 at his home in Athelstan, Iowa.
Forest was a life long resident of Athelstan. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his bountiful harvest with his friends and family. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting deer and raccoon and trapping. He also enjoyed collecting old cars and tractors. Forest worked 38 years as a welder at Houston's in Hopkins, Missouri retiring in 2012.
Forest was the father of 4 children, Brad Dillenburg, Kandi Lea Young, Joanna Rae Young and Jimmy Howard Young. His family always came first. His love for his kids, grandkids and great-grandsons was immeasurable. He always sat in the waiting room to wait on his grandbabies to be born and was just a phone call away. Forest would be on his way to help no matter what time it was. He always had his families back even when they were in the wrong.
Forest was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ricky and Marvin and sister, Irene Harrison.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brad Dillenburg, Kandi (Kenny) Latham, Joanna Latham and Jimmy (Nadine) Young; grandchildren, Gabe Latham, Katie (Connor) McCullough, Liz Young, Owyn Wuillay, Justin (Kim) Parker, Jase (Michal) Latham and Jonathan Latham; great grandchildren, Jackson Senger, Phoenix McCuen, Sutton Patrick, Arden Moser, Jason N. Latham and Weston Parker; siblings, John (Linda) Young, Janice Maxwell, Frank Young, Shirley Young, Denzil Young and David (Shelly) Young.
Forest’s humor and mischievousness will be missed by all that knew him.
