North Nodaway Accepts Resignation, Hires Four New Personnel

The North Nodaway School Board, at their regular meeting on Wednesday, voted to accept the resignation of Kelly Lininger as Middle School and High School Paraprofessional and Junior High Basketball coach. Board member Kane Oberhauser abstained. The board voted to hire Ron Scroggie as an activities and substitute bus driver, Stephanie Turpin as the Dribbler's Club Coordinator, Ashley Marriott as High School Basketball Cheer Coach, and Haley Dougherty-Null as Middle School and High School Paraprofessional. These votes were unanimous.

The Board voted to approve the following substitute teachers for the 2025-26 school year: Hope Reeves, Angela Herndon, Matthew Loudon, Ashlie Marriott, Billie McCoy, Rhonda Brown, Todd Simmons, Stephanie Turpin, Janelle David, and Amy Schreck. The board named Jennifer Torres as a substitute cook and Ron Scroggie as a substitute bus driver. 

The school received a letter from the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education stating that they meet the requirements for the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act.

High School Principal Cody Jenkins reported on participation numbers for sports programs. The Platte Valley football cooperative has 21 players, eight of which are from North Nodaway. There are nine out for volleyball, six for cross country, and ten for fall cheer. There will be seven North Nodaway students participating on the Platte Valley junior high football squad. There will be six out for cross country and 8-10 for volleyball.

Elementary Principal Heather Townsend reported that there were two movie days for students. There were ten that attended the first movie at The Hangar in Maryville and eight who attended the second. 

The old playground at Pickering is being removed and the new one is being leveled up. It has been seeded.

Superintendent Chris Turpin reported that the school has been experiencing Internet issues since the middle of July. It has gotten progressively worse. Mrs. Herndon is working with More Net and United Fiber to figure the issue out. Both parties along with Midwest Data have been running tests. They believe it is a configuration issue.

The new basketball hoops along with the new volleyball sleeves have been installed.

The school is still waiting on the cost for repairing the door and metal to the Commons. The metal bid was expensive, as was the replacement door.

Mr. Turpin reported that the school's payments are substantially lower than last year. The July payment was a little over $16,000 less than the previous year. Funds include Proposition C, Foundation Formula, Transportation, and Classroom Trust Fund.

Several trees have been removed from the elementary as well as two pine trees near the old playground area that were dying because of bore beetles.

The flagpole in Hopkins has been repaired.

The commons concession and storage project has been completed. 

Additional security cameras have been installed at the school and are working.

There is a mole issue at the football field.
