Dear Parents of Elementary Students: I am excited to begin the 2025/26 school year with all of you! All our teachers are getting their rooms and curriculum ready for the new school year. Here are a few reminders for you.
1. Attendance: It is very important for your child to be at school every day AND be on time. It is much easier for our teachers to begin class with all students present, seated and ready to go. Please call the office or provide a note to the elementary office if your child will be absent. A doctor’s excuse must be given to the office for each day after the 8 days missed in either semester. If more than 8 days are missed in one semester, the student must make up the hours after school. The proper legal authorities will be notified if more than 8 days are missed each semester.
2. Open House: Our Open House will be Thursday, August 14 from 5 - 6p.m. This time is for your children to bring in their supplies, find their desk, and meet their teacher.
3. Water Bottles: Your child’s teacher will let you know if a water bottle is permitted in their classroom. Please discuss this with your child’s classroom teacher.
4. Parties: Each class will have Birthday and Holiday parties. We will only accept purchased packaged treats. Parents can either send them with their children or drop them off at the Elementary office.
5. Picture Day: Picture day is Wednesday, August 27th.
6. Electronic devices: As a condition of the new state statute: cell phones, smart watches, and any other personal electronic communication device will not be allowed with students during the school day. If a student is using an electronic device without permission, it will be taken from the student and sent to the office with disciplinary action to follow. The parent or guardian will need to come to school to pick it up.
7. Student Organization: All student PK - 6th will have a yellow take home folder. You will need to check this EVERY night. Please take out papers and return notes as necessary. Students in grades 4th - 6th will have an assignment book. Parents MUST sign them every night to show they looked at it.
8. Dress Code: Shorts must be longer than the end of your fingers when your arms are straight down at your side. No clothing that has rips or tears above the knees and no pajama pants unless it is a designated day. Attire, which will attract continued undue attention as well as other unusual items, should not be worn. Hats, caps, bandanas, and sunglasses are not to be worn inside the building.
9. Transportation: Riding the bus is a privilege. Students must follow the same dress code of conduct that is in place for the school district. These rules help ensure safe bus transportation for students and the bus drivers. Students who violate these safety regulations may be excluded from riding the bus. Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from school if the child has been excluded from the bus.
10. Parent Drop Off/Pick Up: Parents who will be dropping off their children for school need to wait until 8:05 to pull into the circle drive (after the buses unload). There is NO parking in the circle drive. We have visitor parking spots if you need to come in. Parents picking up their children after school will need to pick them up in the circle drive after the buses have left. Parents can then pull around and we will send the children out accordingly.
11. Teacher/Parent Communication: Please check your e-mail regularly and keep Dojo on your phone. Communication is very important and we are all working towards the same goal of helping students be successful. Meetings with the teachers and principal are welcomed and encouraged. In order to make this happen you must call the office, e-mail, or message on Dojo to set up a time to meet. Walk-ins at the spur of the moment may not work for all parties involved.
12. School Website: Our school website address is wc.k12.mo.us. You will find a lot of information on this website. Included in the information will be the daily announcements, handbooks, school calendar, lunch menu, athletic team schedules, and activity practice schedules.
13. After School Help: If you feel your child needs extra help or a teacher feels your child needs extra help, I strongly encourage one on one tutoring after school. Please visit with your student’s teacher.
We look forward to working with you and your children this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
