Memorial Service for Garland O'Riley, 79, of Hopkins, Missouri will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Hopkins, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025 at First Christian Church in Hopkins, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be held at Hopkins Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed towards the First Christian Church of Hopkins in Garland's honor. Garland Mack O’Riley passed away Wednesday, July 30 , 2025, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. He was born August 28, 1945, to Leland and Thelma O’Riley of Hopkins, MO. He joined one sister and two brothers. He was a graduate of North Nodaway High School Class of 1963. Garland served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 during the Vietnam Conflict. He was joined in marriage to Patsy Jean Mayfield, March 15, 1970. They had 2 children, Kyle and Karma. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed life on the farm. He retired after 24 years from Nucor Corp Steel/LMP Steel in 2009. Garland was an active member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and First Christian Church of Hopkins.
He was preceded in death by parents Leland and Thelma O’Riley, brothers Randall and Wayne O’Riley. Survived by loving wife Patsy O’Riley, son Kyle and Mendi O’Riley, granddaughter MaKayla (Dillon) McIntyre with great granddaughters WrenLeigh and Tillie, granddaughter Mallary (Joe) Frueh, daughter Karma and Doug Williams, with son Mateo, daughter Payton, and son Jason, his sister Laurose Smith, sister-in-law Jeannie O’Riley along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
