Retha was born November 12, 1940 at Webster City, Iowa to Neal John and Lillian Rose (Dingham) Hanen.
She had worked as a nurses aid, custodian at Albany Schools and housekeeping at Graceland College. She married Farris Parkhurst in Eagleville in 1956. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2015. Her parents, brother: Donald Hanen, sister: Janice Eivins and grandson: Jimmy also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saint Church.
Retha is survived by her children: Michael (Joyce), Bethany, Ricky (Cindy), Blythedale, Terry Lee, Bethany, Gerald Wayne, Bethany, Christopher Allen (Jeannie), Blythedale, David Lynn (Nicole) Albany, Pam (Rodney) Dilley, Trenton; Brother: Keith Chelsvig, Lorenceville, IL; grandchildren: Bill Bob, Julie, Andrew, Sonya, Laura, Jeremy, Jason, Cassie, Iris, Lindsey, Sawyer, Brittany, Amber, Molley, Mason, Corey, Caleb, Tyler, Colton, Paige; 11 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren.
Retha has been cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date, with inurnment at the Payne Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Bethany Memorial Chapel.
