Obituary -- James Stiens 1926-2019

James R. “Jim” Stiens, 93, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at his home.

Jim was born on April 5, 1926 in Maryville, Missouri to William Casper “Bill” and Anna Marie (Lehmer) Stiens. He was a graduate 1944 of Horace Mann High School and served in the United States Navy. Jim was a farmer and member of St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Eagles Lodge, 27 year committeeman at the Farm Service Agency and 15 year secretary of MFA.

He married Della Mae Adwell on September 22, 1949. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Robert (Joyce) Stiens, Ravenwood, Missouri, Janet (Tim) Degase, Maryville, Missouri, Gary (Brenda) Stiens, Maryville, Missouri, Mark Stiens, Maryville, Missouri, Joan (Vince) Wilmes, Ravenwood, Missouri and Kevin (Sonja) Stiens, Maryville, Missouri; sister, Dorothy Miller, Maryville, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, William, Richard and John Stiens and two sisters, Doris Porter and Mary Tobin and a great-grandson, Deryk Degase.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Friday, August 30th at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville. Rosary 5:30 pm Thursday, August 29th at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church. The family received friends following the rosary from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The family suggests memorials to St. Gregory’s Catholic School or Mosaic Hospice.
